I just noticed that he and Chris Black are both number 5.
I wish Cyrus would have spent all of last year at CB, he has major major potential there

Yep, supposedly he's looked good at CB and has been getting a lot of personal attention from CNS. Curious what happens with Dee

Lets be honest. In all likelihood, dee is going to be processed. I hate it for him, but he's down he list at every spot he's capable of playing, unless he's regained his quickness and is able and happy with being primarily a return guy and special teams player

Maybe but I'm still hopeful

I said it a while ago he should just transfer. Also I hate the roster moves like Cyrus. shite fricked BJ Scott up. We should give him a shot a safety.

BJ was slated to start at CB heading into '10 fall camp but got beat out by Menzie and Dee. He would've been better off starting out at CB but probably asked to start out at WR; that's on him IMO.
I don't like flipping players from position to position but it's usually because the player isn't going to see the field at his current position. We're stacked at WR and RB. Cyrus and Dee at least have a slim opportunity to contribute at DB.

That's for a lot of guys, it's something you have to deal with if you want these "athletes". You want them to play DB, they want a chance on offense and the ball in their hands. They aren't use to anything else, as they are used so much by their HS teams. BJ Scott was Vigor's QB, he was use to making plays. At CB, there's a lot less going through you.
If Scott would have waited, he could have in the very least been the Money or Star. Best case, I could have seen him as the starting Safety...

I expect the same thing to play out with Ardaruis Stewart. I believe he can be an NFL DB or a "good" receiver................

Exactly... its been said countless times before, but most of these guys are super competitive and super confident in their own abilities, so they feel like they can continue to do what they did in high school, as long as they work at it...
Take a guy like Derrick Henry, for example. All the experts say he is as terrific an athlete as you will find, but his skillset and measureables are probably better suited for another position besides RB. However, the kid is singularly focused on proving that he can do what he has done his whole life... carry the football.
2 years from now if he doesnt pan out as a tailback, can u really blame the coaches for giving him a chance to live out his dream? Chances are if they told him, that he would not be a tailback at Alabama, he would be suiting up somewhere else, where he would get that shot.
Back to Cyrus, he wanted to start out at WR, similarly to ArDarius Stewart coming in... Itw as reported that ArDarius pretty much pouted the first day or so at practice for the Alabama/Mississippi All-Star game because they only wanted him to play DB. Similarly, Cyrus played DB at his Under Armour All-American game. Both guys made an impact at their all-star game in the defensive backfield, but ultimately when they get to the next level, they want a shot to play offense.
Now, I don't know as much about the BJ Scott situation because we didnt have sites like this back then (at least not that I knew about) so I will reserve comment on that particular scenario.

You can add Bradley Sylve and Brent Calloway to the list too. All these guys were told they could pick where they started out but that doesn't mean they won't eventually be moved a year later. It's funny because Michigan fans screamed that CNS would try to make Dee Hart a DB if he signed with Bama. I laughed at that, yet, 2 years later...

BJ wasn't able to crack the rotation at WR as a freshman, redshirted while moving over to D, struggled with the playbook, and fell behind a few younger guys. I agree with Magilla that he probably would have played a lot as a RS Jr or RS Sr if he had stuck it out. Can't blame him for taking the sure playing time at USA though.

Almost every "athlete" type recruit we take eventually ends up at DB. Just like every one of those guys who signs with a coach like Petrino ends up at WR. Personally, I think both extremes are kind of stupid, but I'm not paid $5 million to make those decisions.

He was here when he was a RS Jr right? Crazy thing is he was getting all the snaps with the 1s during the spring i believe or thats what it looked like from videos.

I'm not sure what exactly happened with BJ in the '10 season. That spring he was 1st string at CB along with Dre. The first fall organizational chart had him and Dee as sharing the 3rd CB spot behind Dre and Menzie. Once the season started it appeared he was behind Dre, Menzie, Dee, and Phelon Jones. He just kinda fell right off the depth chart.

On the topic to Cyrus Jones--I dont see him getting processed. I really think he has the chance to contribute at CB since we are currently the thinnest in depth at that position. Who knows what the future holds but I see Cyrus Jones getting meaningful playing time eventually.

I dont think anyone believes Cyrus will be processed but Dee maybe.

He's either going to be processed or switch to another position like CB or safety. When I saw him play last year, he showed no burst and looked really slow and that was before the second major knee injury. I'll be shocked if he makes the RB rotation this year.

You should be processed
