Anyone else get the feeling we are about to become a force in basketball?

New arena being built, SEC tournament championship and at least one win in the NCAA tournament over one of the better Big 10 teams.

I think AK has turned a corner in his coaching. The last 5 games he has really impressed me as he has out coached some of the best coaches in the country and he has been able to recruit well even with our shitty facilities.

When we get the new arena built I think you're going to see a new era in Ole Miss and SEC basketball.

First we need to hold onto Marshall and AK. I think we could dance next year if both return. Then the following year the only player we would lose on the entire team would be Marshall (if Cox gets his medical RS). Once again that could be a dancing team. 3 years to the dance in a row with a brand new arena... AK stays... And we put our basketball budget atleast in the top 50... Then yes, we could be a power. The pieces are in place.

Losing Buckner, Holloway, and possibly Henderson will hurt Ole Miss next year. But it always seems that AK is dancing on that Tournament line each season.

I think you have to have a couple more tournament bound seasons to consider becoming a force. AK's seat could very well become hot again if he doesn't make the NCAAT next season and it's a possibility with what you have leaving and some of the recruiting classes being pulled by some other SEC schools.

When was the last time we recruited the top player in Mississippi? Provine posse?

Can we get the Booker kid from the coast? The player from Callaway?

Dwight Coleby... Scout ranks him as the #23 Center in the country.. We also have a center and a SF coming in from Kansas... They are not stars or nationally ranked recruits but they are very solid gets for a program like OM... Hopefully lots of doors open up for Kennedy on the recruiting trail at season's end due to our recent success.

So that's two 6'9" Centers that go 225 and a 6'6" 190 lb small forward coming in.. Definitely recruiting to our needs.

Belle- I agree with you about not completely being a force, but I think that Kennedy's seat should be safe for a while. He had our first SEC tournament win in 30+ years and made it to the dance for our first in around 12 years. I think he will be our coach for a while.

MSU has gone to a bowl game 3 years in a row and is expanding the stadium.

MSU is a football power!
