Growing up I didn't understand the animosity. Then in '97 I watched Peyton take the drum major's stand and lead their band in Rocky Top after he threw for 500 and beat us at home.
Started to get it at that point.

We hate each other, we always will. Deal with it.

It's envy. We Alabamians feel Tennessee is a potential threat to steal our thunder when it comes to having the most awesome looking hillbilly fans.... Plus, there's a shite-load of Chinamen in both Knoxville and T-Town.
Then there's this:
Then there's this:

It's got to be tough for Ohio State to ramp up the hate after winning 10 of the last 12 over Michigan.
Negative as a guy who supports OSU I still hate Michigan just as much even if they aren't in their prime.

I've hated Tennessee since the 60's. Something about that puke orange I guess.

Bama Fans -- Why do you hate Tennessee?
Any Bama fan that lived here from 1995-2001 earned their right to hate Tennessee. And to hate them infinitely. I don't care if Bama beats Tennessee 30 times in a row, the next will be just as sweet as the last.

Considering the series started in 2006, that's a good question

History, this one means a ton to both sides. We hate orange, hate it. Best feel good win (cigars to the victors), worst feeling loss - do NOT want to be on losing end of this one.
This. This shite runs generations. There is nothing that will ruin your saturday night more then losing to a bunch of gumps

This^^^ is why the rivalry is so great. It's the 3rd Saturday in October, if you can't get fired up for that, YOU DESERVE TO DIE.

I hate Tennessee for reasons stated above...my wife hates them because she thinks the colors are god awful. Is that Pumpkin puke shite orange?

I don't hate Tennessee at all. Beautiful state, especially in the autumn. Now UT, THAT is another issue.
Posted on 3/14/13 at 8:56 am to ErnestTBassmaster
I was raised to hate UT - to love the 3rd Saturday in October - to respect Coach Bryant & General Neyland - to hate orange - to love cigars after a Bama win over UT - to love Tennessee bourbon.
You can never get away from your raising.

I can't think of one thing I like about UT.

We used to respect UT. A lot. Then Phil Fulmer went secret witness against UA (illegal under NCAA bylaws and the little fact that UT boosters also were bidding on the player involved). Fulmer went holier than thou all the while UT was just as guilty as Bama, they just got outbid (UT offered $70k for the player).
Bama gets hammered by the NCAA. 6 years of lost later, we get Saban. Greatest coach of all time and are running a train through everyone now. And are in the middle of the greatest dynasty in NCAA history. So, in the words of one Chris Rainey:
"Time to die, bitches."
Perfectly said.
