Apparently this guy is a pretty big Tony Franklin disciple and knows the spread offense very well. He's Lutzenkirchen's high school coach, and was also QB coach at Troy in 2010.
If any of y'all have Rivals subscriptions, I would advise going and reading an article that Jay G. Tate wrote about a week ago regarding Saban's off-the-field staff and how he uses it to recruit high schools. It's a very interesting read, and I'm not going to give any cliff notes since we do that too much with recruiting information.
Philosophical Shift by Jay G. Tate

Can't read the Tate article.
What is the rule on coaching staff? Can he work with QBs and other positions during the week as long as he's not on the sideline during games?
What is the limit on # of coaches. assts, coords, etc.?

I'm not sure what they're allowed to do in terms of actual coaching, but there's not a limit on off-the-field coaches as far as I know.

So what is his position title?

It deals more with recruiting off campus and contact.... a former coach at my high school is part of the support staff at Alabama (willie carl martin)... I see him on the sidelines of Bama games, and he runs their OL through drills during pre-game.
Also, AU's director of player development is on the sidelines of our games... ben thomas, or something like that... big guy... hard to miss.

Regardless of his role, I like this hire.
Looking at his high school record, it's really impressive. Detractors will say "another HS coach" but I don't think people give HS coaches enough credit. Those guys never know what they are going to have year-to-year and have great experience quickly assessing and utilizing the hand they are dealt.
People talk about CGM having never developed a QB. Even though Craig is WRs coach, you can't tell me he won't contribute to QB development and Lindsey has experience in that area too.

If we can pass the ball effectively like Mike Leach's Texas Tech teams with Lindsey's help I am down.
Not like the fact he graduated from Alabama

It says he played football at UNA, so he might not have been at Bama for too long

anybody got a resume for this guy?
and who cares if he graduated from alabama?... ellis johnson coached there for a decade and no body thinks he was a bad hire.

I read that article the other day. Was really eye opening. I think we have already seen some benefits with Al Pogue on staff and I like the addition of Lindsey. Bama added Stevenson yesterday so right now it seems there is a firesell for HS coaches. I wonder if this is the role he wanted Rush Propst and that SC HS coach for

Yea. Scarbinsky just wrote an article praising sabans tacttics in hiring coaches for recruiting. I believe he says in the article that we have 18 (I guess 19 now) football staffers whereas bama has 28.

Amazing article by Tate. Gus has exceeded my expectations, but he still has a hill to climb.

Hes also a former player. Usually they allow former players access, but yea I see what you are saying. That dude Ben is awesome. Was the head of Sewell hall when I was there and was also Dir of Ath Events.

My guess is yes.
I would imagine we'll hire a GA coach for the Atl and burbs area.

Saban hired Kevin Steele back as director of player personnel, or some title like that. I think he's basically going to head up the second staff that will be doing what Tate talked about in his article.
In short, they've got a second staff of coaches that has basically cast a web around a 500 mile radius of Ttown, and are constantly in contact with high school coaches, scouting players, offering coaching assistance, breaking down film of opponents, etc.
I think it was 9 members that we're planning on having in place pretty soon, and Tate said we have a budget approaching 7 figures to put together another staff like this, so I can see how plenty of coaches would jump at the opportunity.

He was the HC at Lassiter when Lutzenkirchen and UGA QB signee Hutson Mason were there.
