Obama then made reference to the news that Foster, a five-star linebacker from Auburn High School, had announced his decision to commit to Alabama.
"You guys just got another draft pick down there. A guy who already tattooed Auburn on his arm and then decided to go to Alabama instead," Obama said.
"He did the same thing I did," Newsome responded. "I committed to Auburn and I changed my mind. It happens all the time down there. It only counts on signing day."

Gibbs went to Auburn, but I don't think he's on staff anymore. Maybe he bitched about it in a phone call or something.

I think that's pretty cool only for the fact that it shows the President follows college football, including recruiting, as much as we do.

Obama is in bed with Alabama, once again, another reason why Alabama has been so dominant the past few years.
Hail State!
Hail State!

POTUS cruises the OT every morning during staff meetings.

Auburn-Alabama rivalry is truly become part of the national subconscious. Four NC's in a row from one state and the President talking about Auburn-Alabama recruiting. Kind of weird actually.

You can't spell POTUS without the OT!

I said this on the Alabama board, but I would bet that Obama was given talking points so he could have a conversation with Ozzie and some staffer or intern did a Google news search for "Alabama football" and the Foster story was one of the first links since it went down last night.
The story is odd enough that it caught the staffer's eye and he passed it along.

But Obama also said "draft pick" not recruit, and I'm certain he knows the difference, which means he follows it enough to reference Dooley's quip about Saban getting draft picks not signees. Idk if I can see a staffer getting that involved in designing a few talking points.

Alabama drafts, the rest of us recruit.

I assumed he was referring to the Ravens having a potential future draft pick in Foster....
