Arky's problem is more than lack of black athletes. Back in the days of segregation,Hogs still got over two thirds of their players from out of state.LSU,Ole Miss and Bama were loaded with home state kids.
High school football has never been very strong in Arkansas.

It's easy to make threads like this when you're home state is loaded with talent.
but I'm sure thats not a legit reason, can't troll that way.

Yup. Was part of the 1991 national championship team.

What hook? It's a fair question. He's not fabricating anything or hand picking convenient stats.
the last that's not gonna get it done is the hook. That's the hook because
1. he has nothing to support that we can't be a successful program with rankings in the 30s or even high 20s.
2. this question is constantly discussed, it's like me bringing up how bama beating LSU so badly in the national championship game deflated the LSU program from its former elite status to a more defeatable status (aka saban made you guys quit)

Well, according to Rivals only one SEC west team has out recruited us in the rankings every year since they started ranking this sort of thing.

I can't disagree unless by successful you mean win the SEC occasionally. Arkansas can certainly be successful in the sense that they can win 10 games some years. But IMO a lot of programs could win 10 games in the SEC every now and then - it is a lot harder of a thing to win games 11, 12, and 13 when you're competing within the conference against 4-6 teams that may be more "talented".

Ok I'll bite.... simply put Arkansas HS kids are traditionaly UNDER evaluated and not ranked very high... several have proven to be much better than their rankings out of high school. Arkansas will always sign 8-10 instate kids and unless the instate class has tons of star power it will hurt their national ranking. We won't be able to win recruiting battles in Alabama with 'Bama in on them very often...if ever. The same will be the case in LA with LSU. Time will tell if A&M now being in the SEC will hurt us in Texas but our recruiting in Texas overall has been down for several years with the exception of east Texas. BB and staff seem to be doing better nationally so far than previous staffs but time will tell if that will last. Facilities is not the issue... ours are as good as anyone else. NWA doesn't appeal to everyone. If you are a middle to upper class white kid, it's great. If you aren't, well..... not so great. Doesn't bother some kids and really bothers others. Having been to Tuscaloosa and Baton Rouge, they are much more culturally diverse than Fayetville. Not saying that is better or worse...just different.
this ^^

I would argue the difference between winning 10 and 13 is minimal talent wise and has more to do with that little bit of luck that separates championship teams from top 10 teams. If we can get to where we consistently win 9 10 games a year (which is where petrino had us going with the same shitty recruiting) then eventually the stars will align for us.

Fayetteville High School, Rogers High School, and Bentonville High School's football teams (Northwest Arkansas metro) are probably 85% white.

I understand what this thread is in retaliation to but I'll answer anyway. The geographical location and less than stellar high school talent compared to the rest of the conference is the reason. A sign of a great recruiting class in the ability to lock down the state. If you can successfully recruit in-state kids then will have a great class. Once you get most of the kids from your state then you can move on to out of state recruiting. Arkansas may get the in-state kids they want but they won't have the caliber/numbers that LSU, Bama, UF, UGA, etc will. I think Arky does a pretty solid job in recruiting for the circumstances.

So what you're saying is that everyone has beaten you, a few have beaten you consistently, but only one has completely swept the board on you.
Congrats!

No, his basis for the thread is by using recruiting rankings, only LSU has out recruited us by said rankings every year.

Those are large excuses.
Oklahoma has 7% minority population and a population of 3.8M people.
Arkansas has a minority population of 17% just like Tennessee and has 3M people.
Arkansas isn't recruiting the state of Texas like OU has it is just that simple. Our in-state talent is producing NFL players at the same as Mississippi and Tennessee.
Math is your answer and it is a numbers game. OU pipelined in Texas years ago and this is also why it is so much fun to make fun of the Aggies and Horns with all those resources.

You would think Missouri would be higher on the list with Kansas City and St. Louis both being in the state...
