The B1G is pondering it. Given the demands of a conference network, do you think the SEC is going to have to fall in line? Once one network sets the model for content, I think you have to.

6 Division games
1 permanent cross division game
3 rotating cross division games

You play the full gauntlet of SEC teams, home and away, in exactly 4 years.

I would prefer a 9 game conference schedule.

6 Division games
1 permanent cross division game
2 rotating cross division games

The SEC would cannibalize itself

13 (or 15 if there is expansion) game SEC schedule, play everyone once and crown a champ at the end.

Or, play 7 division games and then have an SEC football tournament.

Although I'm not a proponent of expanding our conference schedule, the SEC should do whatever it takes to force the Gumps to play quality East division opponents.

I'd prefer an 8 game conference schedule with 4 pod 16 team leagues.

You'd get up to two more conference games as the division winners played each other and have the scheduling flexibility to play real teams out of conference

You'd also be able to play every team in the conference home and away at least once every six years. Even if you went to 10 conference games you'd take longer to do that with 8 team divisions and one fixed opposite division opponent.

I had much rather see more SEC teams on the schedule instead of the sacrificial lambs typically brought to BDS.

I hope they at least go to 9 games.

At first glance I thought this was crazy, but with super conferences coming.....

Picture the future playoffs where there are 4 superconferences, one slot for each champ. (Yes, I know this is not how they are setup now. But we don't have superconferences yet either)

In such a world, OOC records become meaningless. So does a poll system for the most part. TV ratings for cupcake OOC games drop; they become like the NFL preseason.

As long as we still play FSU (although it would be funny if we dropped them), sure. I assume that SC and UGA feel the same way about Clemson and GT.

In the current 14 team conference, I'm ok with 8, but I wouldn't sweat playing 9 conf games either.

If we moved to 16 teams, I would think we should move to an 9 conf game format. Maybe even a 10, but the money is going to have to be there. I'm sure the networks (ESPN) would love that. They are more likely to pick it up and can charge more for a USC vs Ole Miss game than they could USC vs Wofford game.

I'd be against it. Don't want to lose the tech rivalry.

I haven't read the thread, but I'm guessing most Bama fans have said no while most LSU fans have said sure we play every ranked team every year anyway.

The B1G is pondering it because the B1G is full of crappy football and losing to another B1G school instead of a MAC school probably allows some to save face and 1,000,000 dollar payouts for MACrifice games by keeping it in house.

This will not work in the SEC because even the bad SEC football teams are better than most teams not in the SEC. An 0-8 UK team in the SEC is probably at least a 4-4 team in the ACC and may be a 6-2 team in the B1G.
