Loco's "sold out" and now it's overpriced and corporate feeling, like you might as well be at a god damn Applebees or Chili's. I like it better when it was closer to a 2-bit wing joint with something dead in the parking lot. Great place to watch braves games on a weeknight 10 years ago.

Rocky's and Fred di Toronto's were both good for pizza, though at different ends of the budget spectrum.

Herbie's. I worked there for a while. Herbie was a great guy - he died a year or two ago.

Herbie's-Some great late night memories.
CW Pinecrest Lodge-Won two free meals on the radio station back in the day. We didn't eat for three days just getting ready for that place.
In terms of bars-Lowery's-Nickel Night!

Sugar Bowl was pretty hopping, too. Whatever replaced it wasn't bad, either. And good ol' Papa Joe's for Brumby skanks.

Pretty sure you're talking about Herbie's. Crazy arse place. I think they closed it down after someone almost got their head put in a deep fryer during a drunken brawl.

If the Firehouse you are referring to is the chain Firehouse Subs, they just opened one East Side.

Flying Buffalo... You could listen to a talented guy play guitar and then buy cocaine from him...

Firehouse was a bar downtown.
Anyone remember Gator Haters? That place blew.

The High Hat....... The small balcony with a few tables above and to the right of the stage in that place... was probably the best spot in the entire South for those interested in original music.

RIP Sky. Remember drinking my first Yard of beer at Sky's then heading over to Allen's. Good way to spend an afternoon before going out.

Here's one that probably won't be listed by anyone . . Chow Goldsteins. More serious though for us old folk:
O'Malley's
Mad Hatter
TK Hardy's
40 Watt

Yeah, Herbie started trying to find buyers for the place after that. He wasn't having fun running it anymore.

Don't forget Pepino's and Spanky's. There was that wings place above the liquor store in the Kroger parking lot, too. Can't remember the name, but 10 cent wings and good beers....

skys place and o'malleys were great spots for freshmen.
i loved my time at abilene icehouse/blind pig, roadhouse, firehouse, and classic city.
for music, the 40 watt, ga theatre, atomic, and dt's down under were great.
when i got out of school and worked in athens, i ate at taco stand on prince as much as possible. loved it.
