Meh. He had built in advantages. No scholly limits and he could sell recruits on being on TV. Bama was the only SEC team that was consistently on TV back then.

Well, the swimming program does have 13 TEAM national championships since 1997. And 15 straight SEC championships for the men and still going.
Throw in about 30 Olympians the past 2 Olympics and about 20 something medals (16 Olympians in Beijing that won 13 medals), and you may start to have a discussion about a 15 year run.
AU is also closing in on Texas for the most NCAA men's championships all time.

Umm, if you want to use individual national championships for this comparison, AU swimming/diving has 105 in the past 15 years alone (men only, the women have about another 40 something). To go along with the 13 TEAM national championships.

Yeah, might take a while. I was guestimating around 200 individual national titles for AU swimming/diving.
