Ranking the Nicknames/Mascots of the SEC

1) Razorbacks
This is by far the best mascot. It is neither over-played nor an abstraction. It is only known to be associate with our school and state. We also have a great live animal that would literally destroy others' dogs, cats, and chickens.
2) Crimson Tide
This one is great too. It is also wholly identifiable with a school and state. The negatives are abstraction and lack of live mascot. The elephant is also confusing.
3) Gators
Cool mascot with real connections to the state.
4) Gamecocks
Weird name but overall a fighting rooster is a pretty damn mean animal.
5-6) Bulldogs
Being at two schools hurts, but the live dogs are pretty cool.
7) Volunteers
Cool historical reference but human mascots in general are not so cool.
8) Wildcats
Mostly vague and unoriginal.
9) Commodores
This one has no immediately obvious connection to the school, but being named after the school founder is sort of cool. It is also a human mascot, so a bit weak.
10) Aggies
This is one is ok except that it is never clear to everyone exactly what Aggies are. It is also a bit overused, and most schools with Aggie mascots were A&M types that changed their mascot when they decided to become full-fledged universities.
11-13) Tigers
Three teams, really? No originality, no real connection to any of the schools whatsoever.
14) Rebels
This one should have been let go, but adopting the Bears to go along was even more lame.

It's amazing that you can contradict yourself in the same sentence and still think this is worthy of posting.

Wildcats is more original than Bulldogs. For real. Look it up if you don't believe me.
A feral nuisance animal at #1???

if the mascot is considered a nuisance and can legally be shot on site it cannot be ranked #1.

Yeah could've been better.
But FWIW you should know that 'Gamecocks' also has historical ties to this state.

I think you are rating Rebels way too low. Didn't the whole school die fighting for the CSA in the war? Can't really sacrifice more for a cause. They would be in my top 4-5.

Yeah ok. Maybe actually learn about the mascots before making shite up.
So all three schools have some REAL tiger connection?

The elephant is also confusing.
They were described as a "sea of red elephants" coming onto the field by the press during the 1925 Rose Bowl (the game that put southern football on the map).

He's not interested in that. Thus his comments about the Tigers mascots.

Back during the Shula years when the DKE house was in front of the stadium they had an elephant on their lawn for a homecoming game. It was a big deal and everybody got real excited over it but from what I've heard is the University won't allow anyone to do it again.

I know that, and I know most of the histories. I was trying to write this from a completely objective and outsider perspective.
Y'all think people know the true story behind the rebels?
