I like the teams now in the SEC but to satisfy the "Rivals", I suggest the following:
SECWEST- LSU,A&M,AR,MS,OM,MO,UK
SECEAST- VU,GA,UA,AU,FL,SC,TN
Play a 8-4 schedule
I have my helmet on and chinstrap tightened, as I sure I am going to get bombarded by Bama fans, yelling about this; don't want to play bama, blah blah blah. There would be no permanent cross divisional game and each team would play cross divisional teams more often than now. Ducking now!! LOL

We both know you don't have family in Columbia and you've never been there. You're full of shite.

You of course realize Arkansas is an expansion team too?

Of course.

But the first expansion allowed for divisions and a championship game.

The 12-team SEC was "manageable" and relatively compact.

14 teams just feels really forced and awkward to me. Maybe I will feel differently in 20 years.

My twin cousins who went to high school in Kansas both attended Mizzou. I'm not really sure why I'm explaining myself right now TBH.

I count 13 (unless you really meant to count FSU twice, then it's 14).

LSU
Ole Miss
Mississippi State
Alabama
Auburn
Vanderbilt
Kentucky

EAST:
Florida
Georgia
South Carolina
North Carolina
Virginia
Tennessee
Clemson

Get rid of Missouri, Arkansas, and Texas A&M. Add Virginia, North Carolina, and Clemson. They add better academics, sports, university towns, and money overall.

If we were starting over from scratch, I'd make it twelve teams divided into two divisions of six each. I would start with the Big Six:

Alabama
Auburn
Florida
Georgia
LSU
Tenn

Then I'd let the following programs/schools give presentations on why they should get a spot at the table: Ole Miss, Miss State, Kentucky, Vandy, South Carolina, Arkansas, Clemson, FSU, Texas A&M, UNC, NC State, Duke, UVA, Va. Tech.

No more than two teams per state and all states must be contiguous.

Yes the north would be weak and east very strong.

Jeez. I mean, I know balance isn't always perfect, but c'mon. This year, for example, the worst team in the east would have been significantly better than the best in the north

In the ideal world and focusing on revenue generation:

16 teams
Pickup UNC and Va Tech for the east
Put Mizzou in the West, where they geographically belong.
Play 9 conference games.

Let's replace them with Illinois, Tennesee and Kentucky. A&M can stay, I hate the other Tejas schools.

Even better. And I'd replace Colorado with Iowa.

Drop Auburn, Miss State, and Vandy...add OU, UNC, and VTech.

14 teams, 14 states.

Let Kentucky and Mizzou stay, but as non-football members. 12 teams, easy scheduling
