per Brett McMurphy of ESPN.
SEC won that negotiation.

It'll still be called the Sugar, right? Champions = lame.

So much better than Dallas. Glad the SEC stayed loyal.

Sugar Bowl name will stay; Champions bowl was "placeholder" RT @LongUteDong: @McMurphyESPN Will "sugar bowl" survive or just change name?

Great news. NOLA kills Dallas and although Jerry's World is nice, the atmosphere blows.

For the Aggies, are y'all still going to play Texas every year? I would really like to see y'all beat their arse every year.
Also, with respect to the 80 Million and all other bowl money. In the SEC all of the money goes into one pot and get split evenly among all team, unlike the Big Twelve where TExas keeps the money.
Texas is africking joke.

So...is the matchup a replacement or an addition to the Sugar Bowl?

Sugar Bowl and Rose Bowl will be the permanent semi-final for the future 8 team playoff.

So, how does this work with the playoff?
Are the two semifinal games separate from this?
So, we get to watch the 3rd place team from the SEC blow out the Big XII champion every year in the Sugar Bowl? Is that how it will work? Sounds good. It is much better than the 2nd place SEC team playing Cincinnati or something like that.

Wait, so the Sugar Bowl game will become the "Champions Bowl" but keep the name, or will both just be played in NOLA?

So on the payout does that mean
SEC - 40 Million (2.857 Million per team)
Big XII - 40 Million (4 Million per team)
or 80 split by 24 teams or 3.333 Million per team?

Here is a longer article.
Along with a sponsors name..."Allstate Sugar Bowl, etc."
It's about money but I can see some very poor matchups in the future...but with playoffs coming up it's inevitable.
The chances of a 7th site has decreased according to article. Also, according to above math, this is strictly semi-finals. Not sure if the CG will be open to bidding just from these 6 or various sites across the nation.

The game will take the name of the Sugar Bowl as the "Champions Bowl" name was just a temporary placeholder.

new Sugar Bowl between the champions of the SEC and Big 12 will be Jan. 1, 2015. If the SEC or Big 12 champion advances to the national semifinals, each conference would then provide another team for the Sugar Bowl.

The Sugar Bowl also will be part of the semifinal rotation during college football's 12-year four-team playoff deal, starting after the 2014 regular season. Other bowls announced in the semifinal rotation are the Rose (Pasadena, Calif.) and Orange (Miami). Sources said the other three bowls in the semifinal rotation are expected to be the Fiesta (Glendale, Ariz.), Chick-fil-A (Atlanta) and Cotton (Arlington, Texas). Each of the six bowls is expected to host four semifinals during the 12-year period.
