How do people see Bama and A&M matching up?

I have some thoughts but want to see what others think.

ETA: Yes ... first and second post fail ... fat fingers

A lot like Michigan and Alabama. I do think JM is a better passer than Robinson, but he'll have his work cut out for him. Gonna have to make quick, accurate throws.

There are so many question marks in this game for A&M.

Will A&M be able to establish the run with our RBs? We did vs LSU but then abandoned it.

Will we see mature Johnny passing the ball or the Johnny Freshman that makes dumb mistakes?

How will our OL handle the Bamas front 7?

On the flip side how will Bamas offense fair against our D?

With Bama having such a great run game and A&M putting their defense on the field so fast will our D wear down more so than in other games in which teams have relied more on the pass?

I like the line match ups, A&Ms OL vs Bamas DL and vice versa should be great "game within a game" to watch.

Each QB/WR package vs the opposing DBs could be trouble for both teams.

Looks to be a good game. I think that A&M atleast covers the 15.5 spread.

A&M's passing attack vs. Bama's coverage - Gargantuan advantage A&M.
A&M's running game vs. Bama's run stopping - push.

Bama's run game vs. A&M's run stopping - slight advantage Bama, but A&M will score fast and furious taking you out of running the ball, so push.
AJ McCarron vs. A&M's pass defense - wouldn't matter the secondary, AJ is bad.

x factor - Johnny Football.

Bama will definitely try and play keep away. I hope our secondary can hold up while we stack the box

If bama has a hangover from LSU, it could look a lot like the games against LSU or Florida.

If Bama comes out firing on all cylinders then they win fairly easily....

Bamas Oline is monstrous and you quite frankly don't have the ponies up front defensively to stop them from running it down your throats. They will wear you out fairly quickly. Game will be close for about a half then bama pulls away

Da frick are you smoking? Our D has one horrible game b/c our O can't make plays and all of a sudden you think we are fricking auburn?

You are in for a gigantic let down this week.

I think looking at Michigan is a good starting off point.

VS Michigan
JFF is a better passer; outside of that it's a push.

We have a better O line. Arguably either one or two in the country, with Bama as the other.

We have a better RB spot than Michigan.

We have better WRs.

So let's look at the keys for the game against Alabama. JFF cannot have bad choices and toss bad balls. WR and RB need not to fumble. Period. Bama will make us pay if we don't protect the ball. I do think we are going to be able to have a servicable enough running attack that will cause the LBs on the second level to pause and honor the RBs. This MAY buy enough time for the WRs to get open.

I think if we are able to sustain drives and have a quick tempo (we ran 97 snaps against State) then we have a real chance of getting into the endzone.

Now, Stopping Bama's attack

We are facing aguably the number one or two O line in the land. We are thin at D line as well as paper thin at LB. We MUST be able to weather the storm of first and second downs preventing a short 3rd down conversion with a running attack. If we can't manage their running game, we are in deep trouble. As for their passing attack, we may be able to get a sack or three in the game. We've got to get the QB's jersey dirty and get some pressure/hits on him. Can't let their WR behind our cover guys (an issue all year long).

Special teams
We have a very good return game w/punts and kick offs.

We have a large liability at the moment for our FG kicker. He's gripping pretty tight, and has no confidence. This is going to cause us headaches.

I don't expect to win, even after drinking gallons upon gallons of maroon kool aid. I think we have a chance at really suprising them with our offense, but I just don't think we have the horses to stop their offense.

We will hang for 3 quarters and then we will wilt under their attack.

Jobu93, an important point to consider when comparing us to Michigan is that Bama had a whole offseason to prepare for that game, whereas they only have 5 days to prep for us.

true, but you could argue that since it was the first game of the season, Alabama wasn't playing as cleanly on either side of the ball as now.

Also, Michigan had a whole summer to prepare while we only have a week.

Our run D has actually been pretty salty this year. Our vulnerability is in the secondary and with QB's that can pick us apart. We are a very physical and fast defense that really only struggled in the La Tech game. We had a shutout going at halftime with State. I would be surprised to see Bama just run us over. That said our D is not as strong as our O.

It's going to be really interesting to see the Bama D vs A&M's O. I think our OLine will hold up fine against Bama, they won't dominate but Bama won't either. I think the game will come down to Manziel and how well he can play within the offense and make smart decisions both in avoiding turnovers and calling the right plays at the LOS. Bama will almost certainly run a UF/LSU plan of containment on his running the ball and they will be looking for picks. Can Johnny stay patient and not try to do everything by himself? If he can then A&M has a real shot.

I do think it is a significant advantage for A&M that we have had 2 games in a row that we were able to rest our starters while Bama just had about as emotional of a game as you could possibly have in BR that was also extremely physical. I also think it is an advantage to have the game at Bama believe it or not because I think Bama is more likely to relax a bit while A&M has actually been a little too amped at Kyle this season. A&M's style of O makes crowd noise almost irrelevant as well. A&M needs a perfect day while Bama is having a bit of a hangover to pull this off.

If our OC has the McElwain disease and falls in love with the shotgun 4-wide formations A&M has a shot. If we just stay Neanderthal and put AJ under center and give both Lacy and Yeldon over 20 carries - Bama by 20+.

That's all fine and dandy. If it weren't for Bama choking like a fricking c-list pornstar, that statement wouldn't even warrant a response.
