You mean game plan wise? It worked great in the first half, but when chavis made adjustments, A&M didn't really do much with the ball. The problem was LSUs offense is so inept that we won't put games like that away.

So, A&M didn't move the ball after the first half. The last drive making the score 24-19 didn't really count because LSU was in prevent. That's the argument. A&M did nothing after the first half. Is that right?

This is completely false. You guys tried the deep pass numerous times. To say you guys were not trying to be aggressive is a complete fabrication. The problem was our defense held your QB to around 38% completions. The only way you guys were going to score was by being gift wrapped great field position, which you were by our RB and freshman QB.
Not only did we try to throw the deep pass, we had it open 3 times and couldn't convert. A&M isn't the only team that made mistakes in the game.
I was referring to LSU playing a soft defense, and then going conservative when we recovered the onside kick. If there is a way to play conservative Miles will find it.

You keep acting like yards = offensive success. Lsu held A&M and JFF in check after the first half. Y'all keep mentioning mistakes and gift wrapping turnovers. Without 2 costly penalties on that last drive, we aren't even having this discussion right now.

A&M lost to a team with one of the five best defenses in the country and even with a decimated OL still one of the best running attacks in the country. No shame there. They have a great young QB who will set the all-time A&M record for victories before he's through IMO. They are going to win several more games this year and go to a good bowl game. They are NOT Missouri! Lighten up people.

I don't think anybody said they were Missouri. They also aren't a top tier SEC team yet.

No one is stating A&M is a top tier team bud.

I never said that people were saying that. Just stating my opinion.

The obvious point was that folks should be happy they aren't Mizoo this year. No one said they were a top tier team but they are definitely in the upper half of the league already.

3rd Quarter:
LSU drive: 3 plays 9 yards, 01:38 LSU PUNT
TEXASAM drive: 6 plays 17 yards, 03:03 TEXASAM PUNT
LSU drive: 3 plays 0 yards, 00:30 LSU PUNT
TEXASAM drive: 6 plays 37 yards, 02:17 TEXASAM INT
LSU drive: 8 plays 23 yards, 04:48 LSU FGA
TEXASAM drive: 5 plays 14 yards, 01:29 TEXASAM PUNT
LSU drive: 3 plays 5 yards, 01:23 LSU PUNT
4th Quarter:
TEXASAM drive: 4 plays 14 yards, 01:20 TEXASAM FGA
LSU drive: 12 plays 55 yards, 04:57 LSU FG
TEXASAM drive: 3 plays 2 yards, 01:07 TEXASAM FGA
LSU drive: 7 plays 26 yards, 02:33 LSU PUNT
TEXASAM drive: 5 plays 29 yards, 01:35 TEXASAM INT
LSU drive: 1 play 47 yards, 00:08 LSU TD
After that, it don't matter.
Drive killers and frickups are in bold. We were moving the ball on both of those drives and the 33 yard field goal should have hit. No excuse, but this thing was far from over. Who gets credit for the interceptions?
If the premise of the OP is true, LSU may need to think about another offense too, because they were only gained about 150 yards in the second half and 310 for the game.

Yea I'd say they are probably around the 5, 6, or 7 area as far as the conference goes.

That's it, did LSU force those mistakes or were those truly unforced errors?
The difference between LSU and A&M is that LSU doesn't rely on their offense to win them games. A&M does, and that was the difference in the game. We've become accustomed to a lack of offense, and we can win without much offensive production. A&M needs to move the ball and score points, because their defense is not a strength.
Lets not fool ourselves, this game was a matchup of LSUs offense against A&M defense. LSU won that battle.

You can't say that and also say that turnovers were forced by LSU's defense.

I'm sorry, mistyped. I meant LSUs D against A&Ms O.
Posted on 10/24/12 at 4:49 pm to Wazoo
Fine. But battle it was. No moral victories here. A&M should have protected the ball, but it was in doubt until at least 3:00 left in the game. A&M was moving the ball until turnovers. We get the same or similar result with any other game plan.

How do you think A&M and JFF fare the next 3 conf games seeing it will be their first on the road? Obviously the Bama game will be pretty tough, but at least JFF will have 2 road games under his belt.

Other than the fact that we already played AT ole miss?
I'd say Auburn W, Miss State tossup, Bama L.

and without a costly penalty in the first quarter, A&M is up 13-0 and possibly 16-0 or 20-0 on their next drive.

Johnny Football knew it was for the SEC's greater good this season to play like a normal human being and took it easy on LSU!
