Yes they should, based on their wins.

It really doesn't matter at this point.
Alabama and Florida could be anywhere between 1 and 4 and the SEC Championship Game would be sure to vault the winner into the BCS Championship Game, where it doesn't matter if you are No. 2 or No. 1 since it will be decided in the final game.
The real controversy is around who is ranked higher between Oregon, KState, and ND. If all three win out, two of them will be left out of the final game.

Yes, although Bama is the better team

Isn't this just a simple case of who started where? It won't matter if they win out and beat Bama, they'll have their chance. Finishing #1 is more important than being #1 in week 8.

Gotta test em with that eyeball.

Depends on if you're basing it on wins or the eye test. Really doesn't matter even a little bit though.

Alabama is 7-0 and the defending national champions. 'Nuff said.
But it really doesn't matter who you put at #1. If both teams manage to win out, the question will be settled in Atlanta in December.

If no rankings came out until the BCS last week, then UF would probably be #1.
But since they do, and Bama started #1, are the defending champs, and have looked great this year, no one is going to move them down even though they don't have any really good wins.
Looking simply at what each team has done this year alone, yes UF should be 1.

The BCS isn't a merit based system. It is a poll. Why does everyone care so much? At a certain point they will be able to beat Florida(if they don't choke against LSU they could play them in the SECCG, and FLorida wins out, Bama will still be the best 1-loss team, and will probably go to the BCS to play Florida anyway).

With their schedule you could make the argument that they should be, but I think people are holding onto the correct (in my view) opinion that Alabama is significantly better than the rest of the SEC, including Florida. But the Gators will get their shot in Atlanta. Should be a good one.

Yes, without question they should. But as mentioned it doesn't matter.
The "eyeball test" is just a tool for people to introduce their own biases while dismissing resumes.

Yes make them #1 so we can quit seeing threads about it.
