97.3 in Birmingham has been talking about this all morning. They're doing work.
Meanwhile, somehow or another - the trio of Al Del Greco, Jay, and Tony haven't touched the story on JOX.
Finebaum is going to rip it apart this afternoon.

He doesn't tweet anything about Satan stealing things from the football team.
Huge difference in tweeting about your faith, and suggesting that the reason your team is losing is because Satan is at work.

Jay is reading the comments right now.
Bout time.

They're being very careful right now. Jay is taking up for her.
Al says he can't figure out what she was talking about when she mentions satan stealing something... Jay offered his interpretation.
Tony is kinda taking up for them too.
Completely different tone than what is happening on 97.3

I was actually pretty blown away by the angle 97.3 was taking on it, even scarbo. They both seemed to be commenitng on it from the standpoint of people who buy into that prosperity gospel bullshite.
This isn't about christian vs. non-christian. She clearly buys into a really, really demented form of christianity. The fact that I'm a Christian makes this even more offensive than if I wasn't, to be honest.

Jay Barker says "no harm done" and that if this is the only thing we have to complain about her, then she's doing a good job.
Says she's just rallying the fanbase.

Lady's on Crack!! If AU was "God's Team", Satan wouldn't be stealing ANYTHING from them! Reminds me of that nutjob DuBose who said he was mad at God because he made them lose to Tennessee.

I'm not a Biblical scholar and I don't want to criticize Ms. Chizik or Jay in particular or turn this into a theological debate but it's a little disconcerting how much improper doctrine and ideas there are in the church in general. I personally think the prosperity gospels confuse people and lead people astray more than they help. There seems to always be an unhealthy obsession with blaming every lack of success both financial and otherwise on the devil instead of the fact that one's own failures or misdeeds/sins are usually to blame. Maybe this turmoil is actually an act of God's grace towards the Chiziks. I wonder if Ms Chizik ever considered that.

I didn't hear any of that, but that shallow, frankly superstitious, Christianity stuff makes it all the more embarrassing. What is it that makes some Christians imagine they are the focus of Satan's attention?
I do believe God cares about people and their passions, so I imagine God cares about football. (I wouldn't be the least surprised if God is anti-football.) And I'm all for praying about difficult times. I'd be a lot more impressed, though, if Auburn people were rallying around poverty and education in Alabama instead of some hurt feelings.

I spent a long time last night thinking and praying on the matter. A hydrangea in my yard began to glow with flame and a disembodied voice rang out...He said...

Exactly, selfless causes like poverty and education are what the new testament is all about.
The prosperity "health and wealth" theology that a lot of modern evangelists push is a very recent development in the long history of Christianity. There is very little basis for it in The Bible, and in fact, it flies in the face of many of the core teachings of Jesus. Achieving wealth and success in this life is not why we are here, this is the entire point of much of the new testament. The idea that when bad things happen to you, it's because of Satan, and if you just pray harder, better things will come is pretty fricked up to me. Always has been.
Regardless of my thoughts on the theology of it, though, it's also a very narrow view of the wide scope of Chrisitianiy. I only mention that because if the Chizik's are pushing that as visibly as it appears they are ("god thing," this, etc.) I can only imagine that they are only furthering some divisions within that team and program. There is no way all the players and staff feel comfortable with this garbage, and that can only serve to cause division within the team. Besides the fact that praying about this and having the fans rally together "all in" will not fix any of the problems Auburn is facing, I just don't understand what she thinks she's doing here.
I can only imagine what that prick Finebaum is gonna do with this.

As far as football goes,......it's not a devil or God thang. Neither one cares about that. Except for Jesus of course. His blood runs BullDawg red.

Sometimes I'm embarrassed by the words or actions of people who represent my alma mater.
Sometimes I'm also embarrased by the words or actions of people who share my faith.
In recent years, those two areas have tended to overlap with increasing frequency.
