In 2013. Thoughts? Bad hire gets him fired.

After this clusterfrick, we won't know if it was a bad hire until the next guy has some time in the program. If Jeffy is canned, I see it more likely in 2014 or 2015.

True. Honestly there aren't a lot of big name coaches that would come to Arkansas to coach.

An up and coming coach will probably be who Jeff picks. It will take 4 years to see if that coach is any good, with Bobby's crazy recruiting classes.

So even if Jeff makes a bad hire, it will take 3-4 years to be sure it was the hire and not the talent level of the team.

So, no, unless Jeff hires Gene Cheezit, or a blind homeless man, he won't get fired in 2013

I'll buck the trend here.

I don't see how he stays employed. Forget the hire, he had very poor employee management going on. The Petrino stuff should have never been allowed to happen and it happened right under Long's nose.

So who would be the bad hire? Our top 3 choices are only supported by half the fans. So every hire is bad and good at the same time.

true, he was allowed to hire a personal friend with finical trouble to be the football coach. Arkansas is like jeff longs own personal little charity to help his buddies out

Jeff Long is the second best AD in the SEC as far as I'm concerned. Arkansas performing this badly shows how good of a coach Petrino was. He covered up a copious amount of problems with Arky. No one, on such short notice with little options, could have been successful this season with Arky's OL and Defense. Knile doesn't look like the same Knile either.

That being said, he needs to hire a good coach in January, but this season was a wash regardless of who the interim was anyway. He hired someone who had head coaching experience. Jeff Long is a quality man the way he handled the Dorrell/Petrino scandal.

Please enlighten me if I am ignorant about Long since I don't follow the day-to-day operations of Arkansas, but as an outsider he seems fine to me.
