Not Conceding Anything, But Bama Is Clearly the Team to Beat

Right now. It is a long season and a lot of teams will look different in 3-4 weeks, but Bama definitely got the best start. As of now, I rank them clearly #1 in the SEC. They beat LSU by 2-3 TDs last night - if both teams play the way they played last night.

But, that is the problem with trying to make assessments like this after one game. We saw LSU take Oregon apart last year because they were focused on that game all offseason. Last night, LSU played brilliantly at the beginning, jumping out to a quick 21-0 lead and forcing 5 straight 3 and outs. But, then the team just fell asleep, got bored, lost focus, whatever. The crowd fell asleep as well. So, not too much can be taken from the game.

Bama, however, is once again a Beast. Last year, LSU was given the nod over Bama throughout the season as most likely the better team because of strength of resume. This year, Bama will get that nod.

November 3 will arrive with both teams undefeated, but Bama will cruise up until then and LSU will have to fight for it. Bama is better right now, but hopefully, this young LSU team will come together by then.

As of week one, I am concerned.

Let's put it this way. If LSU fights through their schedule and bama cruises through theirs, LSU will get crushed. LSU has an easier schedule up until that meeting.

And yet, never felt Bama lost control of the game...or felt Michigan had it in them to even make a decent comeback.

All in all, Bama was hugely impressive to me. That is one bad arse team regardless of all the new players.

There are some things that people need to realize about Alabama.

Bama is best as of now. But it is a long season and this was only the first game. Remember LSU looked the best last year and we all know how that finished.

Bama looked good. The game plan will be totally different against teams with a QB though. We'll have to see how good the pass rush is, and if the young DB's can limit the growing pains. The offense won't miss a beat.

Didn't get to see the LSU game. So, I have no comparison.

Last time I checked LSU is better on the OL and the DL. Aren't the lines, arguably, the most important part of the game ?

Bama definitely looked good, but, let's face it, Michigan is not a top 10 team. Hell, I'm not sure they're even a top 25 team.

It's a long season, and there is a lot of football yet to be played.

Michigan has a very good OL. Other than that the rest of their team is average. Bama looked very good last night, but they still have a lot of room to improve.

Well, neither did LSU, of course. Bama was up 31-0 midway though the 2nd quarter and scored 10 points the rest of the way. Undoubtedly, they could have kept the hammer down and scored 60 but did not.

My point is simply that Alabama is clearly better right now, LSU looked good in spurts but played sloppy and disinterested at times. It is a long season and there is a lot of room for improvement for all of the teams.

But, after week 1, Alabama is clearly the best team in the SEC and that is not really debatable.

I wasn't comparing 'Bama and LSU.

I was comparing LSU and Michigan.

Sorry, for the inconvenience.

good point. I would definitely put Bama at 1 for now but UM is a vastly overrated team and Denard Robinson is one of the worst passing QB's in CFB.

How do you know that? The entire body of work at this point is one game. Maybe Michigan is pretty good and Alabama is great, or maybe Michigan isn't very good and Alabama isn't all that. But, until several more games are played you, nor anyone else has a clue as to which it is.

IMO our CBs are skeptical. Michigan went after Milliner all night long. For the most part he did GREAT. However, he did have a few mishaps. It's bound to happen. In the first half alone they targeted Milliner 6-8 times. He has 2 or 3 PBU and an INT.

Belue is the one im skeptical of. We will see how they fair when Arkansas comes to town.

I feel like our DBs are a lil better than the 2010 squad. But, not much better.

Bama looked great and should be the favorite until they lose because they are the reigning champs. They still have to play in BR at night. I'll take LSU's chances. We'll get better, as will they but last night doesn't indicate a whole lot. Bama should've destroyed Michigan and LSU looked about how most should've expected with the running game being dominant, the defense being dominant most of the game and the pass offense being kind of sporatic. Everything went as planned for the most part.

Bama did look very good though

Have you ever thought that maybe LSU didn't get as pumped up to play North Texas as Bama did having the opportunity to prove themselves to a "top 10" team on a big stage? They looked good, no doubt, but I'm not ready to say they're gonna for sure beat us just yet
