Alabama fans... is the loss of Mathieu addition by subtraction for LSU?

He wasn't very good at coverage as we saw in the BCSNCG getting picked apart by a sophomore QB... I was hoping some of you guys would weigh in

According to his tweets, things were going to be different this time around.

guess we'll never know. I think it affects the return game more. We may not have the dynamic forced fumbles and shite anymore but I think it'll still be just as tough to move the ball.

Really don't understand the thoughts of some of these guys though. He probably just cost himself a lot of money.

I was actually thinking this, but wasn't going to weigh in until the humor of this moment died down...

Don't get me wrong, he was an incredible playmaker when used in different capacities, but I think he was overrated for his actual corner skills.

Regarding UA, I don't think it will matter much, one way or the other.

No, as we've all said, he's a good player. Just not a GREAT CB.

Won't hurt you in the end, but it won't help either.

I have stopped trying to understand. The opportunity they have really is unbelievable, especially in relation to the alternative for some of these guys. All they have to do is stay clean for a yr or two and cash in. I'll never understand.

is this like recruiting where LSU fans can weigh in now and say "he was overrated and we didn't want him anyway"?

After watching the LSU-WKU game again the other day, I've come to the conclusion that Saban should thank Willie Taggart for the BCSCG offensive gameplan. Bama did a lot of the same things WKU did, but with better players.

ETA: This isn't a flame, I think Taggart's a really good coach, and Saban knows how to spot weaknesses, no matter who exploits them.

It's a big loss for LSU in the return game and schematically on defense. He was a 'wild card' type player you always had to account for as an offense because he could line up anywhere, come on a blitz, and generally just make plays. It hurts LSU in those ways. In coverage though he was average at best and isn't a big loss. He got owned by Alabama backups in the BCS title game.

He didn't really do much in either of the Alabama games. Had a great season but Reid and Claiborne (especially the first game) were the standouts versus us.

I've thought for a while that Reid was LSU's best returning DB, but Matthieu obviously added a lot in special teams.

Do Bama fans get to claim a Twitter Championship in light of recent events?

Mathieu isn't eligible to play at McNeese as it is an NCAA school. If it was a failed drug test for the third time he's done in the NCAA
