SEC Probation Prediction Thread

The NCAA has declared Judgement day on College Football. The SEC has a long history of probation and with the current trend its only going to get worse. Who do you predict will get the big ugly axe in the near future? This may include bowl bans, loss of scholarships, and or the Death Penalty.

Tennessee = the moral compass of the SEC. one of the cleanest cfb programs around.

Langham's violation occurred right after the 1992 national championship season and he played as an ineligible player during the 1993 season. You have your dates on the first one wrong.

Actually Auburn is WAY overdue for a football violation. Auburn has miraculously escaped probation given the former players admitting to receiving illegal benefits and a former head coach who flat out admitted to reluctantly continuing payments to players.

The National Collegiate Athletic Association, citing "a distressing failure of institutional control," placed the University of Alabama's vaunted football program on probation yesterday for three years. It also banned Alabama from a bowl game after the coming season, took away 25 or so scholarships over three years and forfeited the school's first 11 games in 1993.
Although the N.C.A.A. is allowing Alabama's games to be seen on television, university officials were upset by the sanctions and said they would appeal. While there is almost no chance to overturn the probation or bowl ban, they apparently hope to lose fewer scholarships.
The N.C.A.A. Committee on Infractions cited three principal violations:
*Contrary to N.C.A.A. rules, an Alabama player accepted six loans from boosters in 1989 and 1990. The loans, totaling $24,400, were never repaid.
*Another player was allowed to play in 11 regular-season games in 1993 although he had signed with an agent. The N.C.A.A. said Alabama officials did not pursue the matter diligently and did not notify the N.C.A.A. until almost 11 months after the signing.

The 89-90 stuff was Gene Jelks and under Curry. It was part of the penalty and lumped in with the Langham case.

Since Brant retired and Emmert took over we'll stop seeing some of the nit picking. Under Brant the NCAA was constantly on a witch hunt. Emmert's way less vindictive.

I wouldn't be surprised if Vanderbilt gets some recruiting violations within the next couple of years. James Franklin seems like a guy that would do anything to win.
