I think as far as LSU recruiting goes it is a wash for now. I don't see A&M taking a big bite out of LSU recruiting (at least right now) because LSU is one of the big dogs of the SEC. We may lose some recruits, but not many. And this will be compensated for by LSU being made more visible in Texas (as LSU will be on a lot more TVs in Texas with A&M in the fold). This might give us a better shot at some of the top QBs in Texas. So I'll take that trade.
I think most of the defections to A&M will come from players that would otherwise go to the Big-12. I doubt UT and OU will feel the pain, but it will be very hard for the other schools in the B-12 to compete.

Returning 9 starters on offense and 6 on defense. We still have a 2 man QB battle going on into the fall with Barry Brunetti (dual w/some SEC game experience) and Bo Wallace (JUCO transfer). Kind of thin at RB (starter is small, like a scat back), but the O line should be improved. Our receiving core should be strong. I honestly don't know what the hell to think about our defense other than the fact that we finally have back a stud at LB, Shackelford, that was hurt last year.

This is more important than people realize. Okie State has lured away a few 4 star recruits from the Houston area over the past that they won't be able to any longer. Same with Tech.
It isn't necessarily about the star players, but having quality and depth. The SEC move will really help this, imo.

But you'll be playing in Texas. Mizzou and Okie State for instance couldn't get any Texas kids til the Big 12
Mizzou and Okie State aren't a 5 hour drive (4 if you put the hammer down!) from Houston.
Since 2000, LSU has averaged roughly 15 kids from Texas on our roster. During that time, we played only one regular season game in Texas and that was last year's game against Oregon in Dallas.
We played A&M annually from 1986 to 1995. During that time, LSU averaged 16 players from Texas per year -- with two large outlier years: 1988 (29 players) and 1989 (25 years). Throw out 1988 and you get rougly the same average as we've had the last 12 years: 15 players per year.
In five years, we can look back and see how A&M joining the SEC has impacted LSU's ability to get recruits from Texas. Raw data below. But I don't see us doing much better than we already are.

Unfortunately no, haha I actually don't even know whose face belongs to them. I just saw it on some random website, and the combination of tits and a Colonel Reb sticker that reads "Boot Boone"(old AD) were just too good to pass up

Who gives a rat frick? You are frickin' TCU, bitch. Let that sink in. We don't give a frick about your BCS wins while running the murder's row of playing in the Mountain Weak Conference.
In case you forgot, we beat SMU and BAYLOR by an average of 4 TDs last year. You lost to both of them. Shut your whore mouth.
Sounds like someone is butt hurt about not making any BCS bowls recently. And a down year was expected in 2011 with the turnover on defense after back to back great seasons in 2009 and 2010. Hang your hat on a 7 win season and a bowl win over a 6-6 team if you must

We have a 24 game winstreak against you.

The consistent complaints in the league from Nebraska and A&M have been about Texas's behavior. SEC fans will cheer on other SEC schools in non-conference games, for the most part. With equal revenue sharing, what is good for one SEC school is good for all (which is why Bama's behavior this past season still baffles and puzzles me--VERY Texas-like, but that's another post). Texas does NOT share this philosophy. They want to be THE University--no one can stand above them in any way, so they will structure revenue deals that benefit only them and not the rest of the conference. If what is good for the conference is NOT good for the Longhorns, then it's no good.
You nailed it. There is one common factor that at least partially motivated Colorado, Nebraska, A&M and Mizzou to leave the Big 12: Texas' greed.
Aside from the points you made, one of the major issues that finally led to A&M and Mizzou leaving was OU, Okie State, Texas & Texas Tech trying to leave for the PAC-12 last year and failing. Nothing says get out while you still can like four of the 10 remaining schools in your conference trying to jump ship in front of you.
An SEC invitation was a golden parachute for Mizzou and A&M, I couldn't be happier.

TCU may be good in the Big 12 if only because Patterson is a legit coach. I'm guessing they see a good uptick in recruiting based on moving up to the B12 and because Fort Worth is quietly becoming a kick arse college town.
But let's be real honest. Generally speaking, losing to a MWC team not named Boise State usually means you dumped an OOC tune-up game and it lands your coach on the hot seat. The conference was that shitty.
Trust me... this was the case when we dumped a game to Alex Smith and the Utes in 2004.

Wow, I'd give my left nut to pull off an upset against Texas this fall and shut these douches the frick up. Iowa State made it happen a year or two ago, so maybe there's hope
You'll be lucky to score.
Slow your roll there, Big12fan - which I doubt, because there are no fans of the Big 12, only individual schools. There is no sense of camaraderie in the Big 12-2-1+1-1+1 that would lead to fans of the conference, unlike the SEC.
Unless you're greatly improved over last year, I'd give Ole' Miss a decent shot at the upset. You have question marks, discipline problems, etc. Ole' Miss could easily beat you.

I don't know, if Ol Miss does what Mizzu did with your pitcher before that game in Columbia, only with bunch of guys from the Village People, your team of merry men might be in trouble.

I could have believed that TT and OSU were serious about leaving last year, and quite possibly OU, but I never gave any validity to Texas seriously wanting to go to the PAC-12. They did exactly what I thought they would do. I can't say that I blame them, since they will never, IMO, choose to be a part of another conference where they can't be top dog.

OU has always been able to get Texas kids in part because of winning, and in part because they have always played a team in Texas.
And they've done well in the DFW area since it is actually closer to Norman than it is to Austin.

All I know is Utex did not score a touchdown on our "terrible" big 12 defense last year, and I'm pretty sure they still have not answered the question mark that is the quarterback position. Come on Rebs, take it to those bevo loving fricks down in Austin next year!

Exactly. I would love to see the Rebs take bevo to the woodshed. Make it happen!
