Thank you for giving me a good explanation about people's interest in gymnastics on this forum. I guess there are a lot of people on the rant because of younger female relatives so I can definitely see where they're coming from. I apologize to all the people I offended.

It's utterly offensive to assume that school pride for a female sport should be only comprised of gays or women. Much less a sport that has brought the national reputation to the University of Alabama that it has.

Undoubtedly you were looking to criticize the same people you criticize when they enthusiastically discuss football or any other sport that they may be excited about.

Gymnastics is among the most athletic of all sports.

Flexibility goes a long way in the sac.

Dang, that's clutch right there. Especially on the beam. Seniors stepping up.

Let's be honest. Women's college basketball and other Title IX sports is made fun of all the time on TD yet everybody seems to be jumping up and down over gymnastics. Do you blame me for being confused about so many people being excited about this sport?

Let's also be honest. Gymnastics is a lot harder than women's college basketball and other Title IX sports. If you have ever been to a gymnastics meet or watched gymnastics on television you would know that.

I attended the championships today, and I found it really interesting. The Zamarippa girl for UCLA was really impressive. The most amusing thing about the whole event, however, was the S-E-C chant during the awards cermeony

a) anyone who has actually been to the campus of The University of Alabama during the school year and seen the energy that surrounds the gymnastics program has no problem understanding how this thread has so many posts.

b) I find it interesting that someone who constantly brags about his enlightened and unbiased stance and criticism of athletics and of others others has such a hard time seeing all perspectives before making assumptions. It would seem that would conflict with his claims of bias and reason. Thus, he can either see the perspectives and embrace his bigotry or else he can acknowledge that his assumptions are based upon an entire realm of understanding that is lost upon him.

c) even if he didn't realize the spirit of the gymnastics enthusiasm, there is absolutely no reason to reduce it to a sport for gays and women.

Oh please, oh please, oh please let there be a video of this on You Tube! It would be great to post on rival conference threads after we win the MNC this year!

Senior Ashley Priess is now a three-time balance beam All-American.

I am absolutely amazed at some of the physical feats these girls can accomplish. Glad to see their hard work and sacrifice pay off. Individual NC competition is Sunday.
