Alabama is suing Daniel Moore of Birmingham regarding his paints of Alabama Football games/figures. Apparently he was licensed to sell the paintings until 2000. In 2005 the trademark lawsuit against Moore claimed small paints on mugs, calendars, etc. to be OK but larger paints were in violation.
The Appeals court will see the case again today.
I think it's trademark infringement and Alabama has full right to stop this.
What do yall think?

If he's making a profit for them then Alabama ha every right and I don't blame them for it.

I know the University is very vigilant and protective of the UA name. They make a ton of money each year on licensing. Its on the order of 10% of revenues which is pretty strong.

quote:Does this same rule apply to photographers who take photos during a game and sell it to the AP and other media organizations? It would make sense to apply trademark/licensing rules if he was selling clothing or mugs or something with the UA logo on the merchandise, but what he's doing seems to have more in common with what freelance photographers do at a game.
I think it's trademark infringement and Alabama has full right to stop this.
