Just wishful thinking. Special team superstar maybe.

Tell why we signed this 2 star RB, Brendan Douglas? Is he unknown diamond or did we have not confidence in getting one of the better known RB's?

FWIW... he's the #4 ranked FB coming out. Zander was dismissed & that left us with Hicks (who some think might be moving to LB) & walk-on Merritt Hall at FB. Depth at FB & he has the speed & moves to be an emergency RB if needed...

I thought it was already said that we are recruiting him as a true RB and not for FB. I could be wrong, wouldn't be the first time.

Scout has him listed at 6' 210lbs; seems kind of small for a FB. Guess he will put on weight but still.....

Your prolly right if Hicks doesn't move to D (& that's just a rumor right now)...

He'll be able to add 20 lbs and beef up.

Watching his film I'm excited. He's fast enough to make plays and strong enough to get tough yards. His speed makes him more like an H back Jacob Hester type. That's the way he plays

We're only a pulled hammy & high ankle sprain from starting Kyle Karempelis....

The staff prolly sees Douglas as a contributor at a coupla positions.... Kinda an insurance plan...

If he's so great why was he only offered by scrub schools?

He's not so great. And I'm not trying to be a jerk or speak poorly of the kid at all, but if we're going to discuss these recruits then we need to speak realistically about them and not get all touchy feely one way or the other.

We took a last second flier on Douglas because he's got some athletic ability, we desperately needed to sign two backs, and we whiffed on all our other targets except Turman.

He is a lot like Fred Munzenmaier. A kid that was a running back in high school that doesn't have the elite athleticism to excel at that position in the SEC, but can probably bulk up into a decent FB while still retaining enough athleticism to tote the rock if we had a bad injury bug hit.

We have played with worse under Mark Richt. Remember the Mike Gilliam/Tony Milton days? Remember seeing Brandon Harton try to run between the tackles? All of those guys were hard workers and good folks, but none of them were top flight running backs either. If Douglas can have a career similar to any of them in terms of impact, at either TB or FB, we should be pleased.

I have seen the Douglas kid play and he is pretty solid and played linebacker as well. Also, he wanted to go to Tech to be an engineer. So, he is a bright kid.
