Prior tot he BCSNCG The LSU fans had a hard time admitting that the loser in a close game has a psychological advantage in a rematch. What is everyone's opinion now that the game is over? Its important because even though it helped us this year, I want as few of them as possible in the future. If we get to a 4 team playoff and still have the SECCG the winner of that game could play the loser again in a rematch the very next week and that would SUCK.
I do not want to play Florida again after the 09' SECCG, and they wouldn't want to replay us after the 08' SECCG but both would have happened in a 4 team playoff.

The BCS system needs to stay the way it currently is. A 4 team playoff means Oregon or Stanford would have had a complaint this year. The system works, it had the two best teams playing in the final game.
If they want to change the system, then go back to pre BCS when teams could play in different bowls based on an invitation and you had co-champions, etc.

So now that you've enjoyed the benefits of a rematch you don't want anymore of them in the future is that right? I didn't hear any protests from Bama fans prior to the NCG. Hypocritical Gumps.

The BCS sucks. It did on 07 and did in 11 too. CFB fans deserve better. And is a playoff occurs and there is an eventual rematch.......at least the team that lost the first game played their way back to a rematch and wasnt "voted" there. (Also having the sports media Giant ESPN lobby for you to be #2)

When is the last time the best team wasn't bcs champ?
It's a screwy system, but it's gotten it right so far

Yes, they would be, dumbass. Who do you think will decide the top four teams? The exact same people that decide who gets into the two team playoff we have now.

You want a 2 team or 4 team playoff? I want a 2 team or no team (based upon on my previous post).

At what point was I responding to you? I'm happy with the current system.
I was actually okay with the former system, but I recognize that bowl tie-ins often screwed it up.

There wouldn't have been a rematch had Okie Lite and Stanford not lost....we got lucky...

Then you didn't listen because I and others said it was unfair to LSU.

This year. Bama did not win their division nor the conference championship. They did not deserve to be in the NC game. And LSU beat them at their place during the regular season.....Okla State got screwed......

Game never should have happened. LSU proved all they needed to by beating Bama on the road. A rematch put LSU at a distinct disadvantage and we see how that worked in Bama's favor.
By the way, I was on record here BEFORE the November 5th game saying that if LSU lost, there should be no rematch. The game on November 5th was supposed to be a semifinal game. Plus, Bama had to do nothing to show up in the championship game while LSU still had to get through Arkansas and Georgia.
Again, these aren't sour grapes. You asked about an opinion on the rematch and my opinion now is the same as it was pre-November 5th: It should never have happened because it gives the losing team a distinct advantage. We're talking about college kids, not pros. We are also talking about 2 relatively evenly matched teams. So, the whole setup favored Bama, in my opinion.
Heck, look at how many times the #2 team has beaten the #1 team in the BCSNCG. It is a regular occurrence. You take 2 evenly matched teams and spend 35 days saying that one is favored over the other. That gives #2 an emotional lift and it matters in college.
Here is how it should work:
No rematches.
Only conference champions.
The game should be played 2 weeks after the season ends. The layoff is too long.
Play all the other bowl games whenever you want.
Either that, or go to an official 4 team playoff. If you do that, I could care less about rematches. They will happen regularly, just like in NCAA basketball when Duke and UNC meet again. But, if you are going to have football look anything like it has, what happened this year cannot happen again.
And, I said that before November 5th. It just doesn't make any sense.

Luck is defined as preparation meeting opportunity. There was no luck. Other teams had their chance, but could not make their "luck" as their preparation was not there when the opportunity presented itself.

The NCAA needs at least an 8 team playoff. Whatever, the present system is flawed.
