Mullen's play calling was very questionable this season. If the offense can get back to what it was last season, Quay and some of your JUCO guys work out, State will win 9 games. That's a lot of "ifs" though.

I know I have given State fans shite (they deserved all of it btw), but Merlins is good for their program. I wouldn't call it a great season because I know expectations were higher, but at least they are bowling.

yeah, our defense carried us next year. our offense 'should' have more next year, so the excuses will be less valid. defense will be pretty fierce, imo.

Mullen's really been pushing the whole egg bowl/beat TSUN thing I know, but I really think he's concerned with more. What I love about him is how concerned he is with building excitement around the team and the season. I really believe a good football program starts with the fans and he's starting to get them more into the game I think. Yeah we had a weak season but I'm still looking forward to good things in the near future.

Welcome to the site, musicdawg725. Yes, I'd say Coach Adequate is quite the cheerleader.

So when Chiznics wins 6 or 7 games next year for the 2nd year in a row

I can absolutely without a shadow of a doubt and I will take any bet you want, that this wont happen next year.

If he wins 6-7 games next year at any elite SEC school he would be fired. At MSU they are content with a bowl berth and Egg Bowl win.

Winning 6-7 games isn't difficult with average talent. Schedule 4 mid majors and win 2-3 conference games.

No Idea yet but I can guarantee that we wont win 6 or 7 games for the second year in a row.

Very True

Having to endure 7 straight losing seasons between 2001-2007 will do that to you. Our fan base loves Dan and want him here as long as he wants to stay.

You should probably wait to make that bet til you see who the new coordinators will be.

Not a bad way to build interest but at some point you have to start winning conference games, or build national interest enough to hire a coach who can. I don't think any fan base will stand for 2-3 conference wins a season for too long. At some point your expectations will grow.

Merls is a perfect fit for MSU - he's got that blue collar vibe to him, and he's a good coach. He's also a coach that could stick around for a while.

If MSU nabbed an up and coming superstar young coach, then he would only treat the job as a stepping stone. Dan is perfect for MSU in a college baseball-recruiting sense. You want to sign really good recruits, but not the best - b/c they ain't sticking around to play for you.
