moot is from moot court. a moot point is a point considered by students of law . moot therefore has come to describe whether something is debatable.

mute = silenced, a person who cannot speak.
moot = logic and debate. mute = no noise.

While correct, I believe his intentions were to use the word as a way of describing an argument that is "purely academic and of no value." This is also an accepted meaning of the word moot.

AP voters have already been polled and it's gonna be the winner of the BSCCG no matter what. If we beat y'all by a FG in OT, most said they'd still vote us #1. I don't look for a split title.

LSU has a chance to make this a mute point anyway.

Rhetorical point.

Of course, them and Bama are hanging their hats on the same "quality" OOC win. And, they actually beat another OOC bowl team, to boot.

Spin it any way you want, but the facts remain that if Alabama beats LSU Jan. 9th:

-LSU 13-1
-Alabama 12-1
-Teams split two meetings (neither in Baton Rouge)
-LSU: Tougher schedule
-LSU: SEC champions
-Alabama: BCS champions

Don't get me wrong, I want the crystal ball, and I want LSU to win "it ALL" Jan.9th. But the facts above will forever be facts if indeed Alabama wins.

As an Alabama fan I honestly have no problems at all with LSU claiming an AP title if they lose on January 9th. It doesn't bother me and I'm not sure why some Alabama fans would have a problem with it. In fact, I kind of want it to work out that way so people will stop giving Alabama fans so much s### over some of the legitimate titles we claim. LSU would have a very reasonable claim to an AP title in that scenario. The added bonus would be that Alabama would also have a legit title as well while everyone arguing for a split title would have to get off their self righteous high horse about taking issue with Alabama's title claims.

Well, if you factor in the bowl games thus far:

Penn State (Bama's toughest OOC opponent) lost to an overrated Houston. Big surprise.

Pac 12 Champ Oregon (LSU's toughest OOC opponent)beat 11-1 Big 10 champ Wisconsin.

11-1 and Big 12 champ OSU beat Stanford 11-1 Stanford.

9-3 AND Big East Champ WVU (LSU's second toughest OOC opponent) still has a bowl game left to play against ACC runner up Clemson.

IMO, at this point, Bama's claims to be any better than 3rd are solely dependent on a dominating win over LSU which isn't going top happen.

LSU beat two conference champions and a conference runner up. Bama played one conference champ at home and lost.

If Alabama wins. That will be 3 teams that want a piece of the championship. This kind of feels like an Upward sports league where,"Everybody is a winner." Alabama and LSU did what it took to get to the game. They are the two best teams. Winners should take all.

PS watch I bet OSU gets a championship ring regardless of the outcome of BCS game.

Exactly. LSU is the winner of the SECCG and Bama-LSU and should take all regardless. Beating Bama a second time will just be icing on the cake.

That said, I'd be lying if I didn't admit it would be a nice consolation prize if Alabama does indeed win if LSU gets to put AP title in its record books.

Someone mentioned this the other day. If Bama wins, the next day there will be a photo op with all the trophy presentations.

So will Coach Miles stand in the background and wait his turn to get the AP trophy while Coach Saban is holding up the Crystal.

Wouldn't that be a little embarrassing?
