Going into the season, most people predicted AU would go 6-6 at best. Considering the schedule and youth, why is AU's season considered a failure?

Predicting you would suck and then sucking doesn't make sucking any less sucky.

No matter what was expected, if we just won a NC anything less than 9 wins would seem like a failure to me.

They weren't remotely competitive against good teams. I guess SC would be the exception although SC played like garbage for a lot of the year too.

It wasn't the record, it was how bad the team looked compared to the good teams they played.

W and L wise we met or exceeded most reasonable expectations. How we actually looked in most games and how we seemed to regress instead of progress makes me consider this season as a failure.

It doesn't help that we red shirted some o-linemen that I think we needed to get ready for the future and wasted KF's redshirt year with the way that we used him.

Well getting 40+ put up on you by your biggest & most hated rivals (LSU,GA,BAMA) is bad imo..

but 7-5<5-7 (and Roof is gone per other thread)

I think the way they lost is the reason. losses by 14, 24, 35, 38, and 28

We skated by teams with lesser talent, but there is no way to hide poor qb play against solid teams. When your offense can't move the ball and your defense can't make a 3rd stop stop to save their lives, beatdowns happen

Yes we had more wins then expected, but losing so badly against our Divisio Rivals, and UGA the way we did was a failure to me. No it wouldn't have been a moral victory had we kept them close, but it would have made 2012 look a lot more hopeful.

I had expected so much more competitiveness and it didn't happen. I don't consider it as a complete failure though.

I don't know about failure, but there were a few blowouts.

Because of the way they lost. They also looked like they didn't get any better from game 1 to game 12.

That's not true. A few crazies might have. Most people said worst case 6-6, best case 8-4.

What do YOU consider 7-5?

People expected the defense to suck. No one really expected the offense to suck this badly. A lot of AU fans were saying that Gus had an offense with Chris fricking Todd and that y'all would be fine with Trotter/Moseley/Frazier. That didn't work out so well.

The season ended up better than a lot expected (could have lost to USU, MSU, USCe, and maybe a healthy UF), but a lot of people are unsure about the offense going forward.

...because most of the posters on this forum get their football knowledge from NCAA 2011 and/or the Madden Franchise
