2009 Bama played 5 teams in the final top 20 in the rankings.
13-1 Texas #2 when played #2 after Bowl game
13-1 Florida #1 when played #3 after Bowl game
10-3 Va Tech #7 when played #13 after Bowl game
9-4 Lsu #9 when played #17 after Bowl game
9-4 Ole Miss #20 when played #20 after Bowl game
Combined records of 54-13 - 81% winning percentage
Then played an additional 5 teams with winning records.
7-6 South Carolina #22 when played
Arky 8-5
Kentucky 7-6
Tenn 7-6
Auburn 8-5
Lsu has played 6 teams currently ranked. With a good shot of one dropping out in the final poll.
11-1 Bama #2 currently
11-2 Oregon # 5 currently
10-2 Arky #6 currently
10-3 Georgia #16 currently
7-5 Auburn #25 currently
9-3 West Virginia #23 currently
Combined records of 58-16 - 78% winning percentage
Also have played an additional 1 team with a winning record
7-5 Western Kentucky
2 teams are at .500 with a chance to have a winning record.
To condense:
Bama 2009 played 10 teams with winning records, 5 of which ranked in the top 20 at the end of the season and had a larger winning percentage against opponents.
Lsu 2011 has played 7 teams with winning records, 5 of which ranked in the top 25 at the end of the regular season and had a smaller winning percentage against opponents.
Now, having said all of that. This is one of the strongest Lsu teams I've ever seen and what they've accomplished is nothing to be scoffed at or ridiculed. They've done a great job and should be celebrated for being the best team to date this year and the best Lsu has probably ever produced. There's no need to make up anything beyond that though.

If we win on the 9th, 2011 LSU is the best college football team of all time. It's not just LSU people saying that, it's almost everyone outside the state of Alabama.
2009 Bama came damn close to dropping 4 games. 2011 LSU has beaten everyone except Bama soundly and we have a chance to beat them again which will remove any lingering doubt.

Is West Va not ranked?

Using the "eye test", this LSU team is much better.

That's why facts were in order. They hyperbole and rewritten history is getting a bit much.

The teams you played that are 7-6 are no different than a Florida or Auburn from this year. Stats are for nerds.

So 2009 Alabama coming fairly close to losing 4 games is hypberbole and rewritten history?

If you could post average margin of victory for each team, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Where were Bama's games played?
Plus, West Virginia away.
LSU has beaten 3 BCS Bowl teams, 2 of which won their conference. Hey, guess which one of those 3 didn't?

Oregon # 5 currently 10-2 Neutral
Arky #6 currently 10-3 Home

I don't about best of all time. Some of those Nebraska and Miami teams just never got tested. With 2009 Bama and 2011 LSU, the offenses hold them back from being "best ever" material. Both were awesome teams. The LSU special teams is every bit as good as the defense so it's a real double threat.

Funny how you use the ranking for teams at the time they played Bama but ignored what LSU opponents were ranked at the time that LSU played them.
Did it occur to you that maybe they were ranked lower because LSU beat them?
If LSU beats BAMA, LSU will have beaten a current #2 team twice in one season, along with 2 different teams that were ranked #3 at the time that LSU beat them.
Show me any team from any time, including Bama, that can make that claim. I'll get comfortable and grab a drink...you're gonna be a while.
