If I were Ole Miss, I'd look strongly at U of H head coach Kevin Sumlin. If the blue bloods of Ole Miss could handle that.

I sat in the Rebel Club this weekend and all these rich Ole Miss old guys/alums were telling me that Leach won't get it because he's Mormon. I had never heard that before. And they told me there is ZERO shot a black guy gets hired because of the good ole boy network.

Based on what I saw Sat they may as well have Hallman on the list - LSU was never that bad and he would be a step up ;)

Would OM fans be dissapointed with Butch Davis? He's had a lot of success and is a great recruiter.

I don't really care who we hire. I'm not sure if I even like football anymore...

Even if this was a possibility, from what I understand, much like hiring Jim Tressel, is that the statue of limitations will still be in effect for another couple of years. Which means nobody will hire them until they can be sure no sanctions are awarded.

Do you think Kirby Smart would go to Ole Miss? Im a Bama fan and would hate to see him go, but I think its only a matter of time before someone takes him.

Eh I like Smart but I don't think he's getting serious consideration at this point. He can stay comfortably at Alabama, he's young, and he can reasonably expect to get a shot when Saban retires. Just my opinion.

quote:Seriously though, I think the term is "show cause". In other words, if Ole Miss did want to hire Davis or if Tressel wanted to get back to the NCAA coaching level, the potential hiring school has to "show cause" that the candidate is suitable and would not break any NCAA rules (how in the world do you do that is beyond me).

Smart has really good things ahead of him and I'd love to have him here. My only problem is with him, you wouldn't see any real results for probably another 3 seasons because he'd have to start completely over.
A guy like Leach, Gus, or even Sumlin should be able to at least put some points on the board.
