Nice piece to pump up our collective egos. However, if we win in T-town, ain't no way I'm gong to play one game for all the marbles. Who could stomach going 1-1 against a team, and they end up being champions because of when they won theirs?

Very true...not the first time we should have had two SEC teams playing for the NC...but the rest of the country just would not allow it!

The only, ONLY way that would ever happen is if Bama and LSU play a magnificent game with one of them barely edging the other for the W. Then everyone else in the top 8 would have to lose at least once before December, AND the 3/4 of the nation's media NOT in the Southeast would have to be willing to make it happen. Of those three things, the last one is the most unlikely.

a few years ago wasn't the big 10 crying for a rematch of Mich and OSU? All of us cried "NO!"

I think we all shouted..."they had their chance."

I think if LSU wins Nov5 with a trick play or last second score, Bama might climb back in the polls because of the perception of Les as lucky. BUT if that happens then Bama lost at home and so why rematch? If LSU loses I think there's a better argument on paper (if we were to beat a top 10 Ark to finish) but I just dont see it happening.

Agree there will not be a SEC/SEC national title game.

The folks who are fans of a playoff as opposed to the BCS would be okay with this, wouldn't they? The Giants lost to the Patriots in the last game of the regular season and then beat the Patriots in the Super Bowl. The teams were 1-1 on the season, but the Giants were champions because of when they won theirs.

I actually made a case for that rematch being legitimate. Glad it didn't happen now, for the conference's sake...

Look, I don’t want to throw a sopping wet blanket on the rest of the season, but who else in the game today can line up and beat LSU or Alabama?

Happens in pro ball but of course that's the nature of a playoff re-matching teams from earlier in the season.

You need to reread that...Chapman didn't say that quoted bit...that was the writer's opinion after the Chapman quote ended.

frick it... I'm gonna roll with it because it's the truth. I know the players and the coaches aren't supposed to talk about it but even the mighty Nick and loopey Les both have this game in the back of their minds along with the players.

I disagree. If Bama wins a close one at home with the help of the Zebra Bama team members you could see the national media members wanting to see a redeaux at a neutral site and with neutral zebras.

Only possible way is if we stay with 13 teams next year and have an unbalanced SEC schedule.
