So now SEC players are "discouraged" from transferring to Texas or Oklahoma during this Spring portal period? Unless there is a specific clause in the contract that specifically addresses this Spring portal (and it appears there isn't), any player challenging it would win....
2 years removed from a National Championship and they are going to fire him?
I don't think that will happen, but Cousin Eddie didn't make it even two full years after his football championship. I think most rational people expected a regression from last year's team, but I don't...

I wasn't aware ULL had a good softball team. Is this their best sport?...
I think the confusion lies in the fact that Texas is not yet a member of the SEC....
Thanks. I wasn't aware of that. The article has some strange language. The players from Texas and Oklahoma are "prohibited" from transferring to SEC schools, while SEC players are "disincentiveised" from transferring to Texas or Oklahoma. Very odd....
It really doesn't have anything to do with what Trxas and Oklahoma are doing. If they are not accepting SEC transfers for immediate eligibility this season, that's simply their choice, but they're not obligated to follow the SEC rule until they're actually a member of the conference. Now, I suppo...
If Texas doesn't join the SEC until July 1st, there is no rule that would prevent him from transferring to an SEC school and being immediately eligible. He's in the same boat as the defensive tackle we're pursuing from TCU. They're both transferring from Big 12 schools....

I don't know a thing about mixing drinks, but I'd give it a try on Sunday night at your neighborhood bar. They could always fire me on Monday....

re: 2024 Football Schedule

The game that seems odd to not be on the schedule is Mississippi State. We've played them more than anyone. State has only played Ole Miss three more times than they've played us....

As I understand it, we actually have NO permanent opponents as of now. Nor does anyone else. That won't be decided until the future, once they decide on the eight- or nine-game SEC schedule. We play the same SEC teams in 2025 that we play in 2024, but the home & away locations are flipped. I cert...
And what sport would that be?
Goodness gracious, man! There are only five total posts in this thread, yet you asked the same question posted a full eight hours earlier...in a thread that contains only five total posts....including yours!! Stop....

re: Down to 83 Scholarship Players

Posted by BillF on 4/19/24 at 12:38 pm
If that were possible, every team would have multiple "walk ons" whose tuition, etc was paid for by NIL. If you're recruiting a guy, he's going to count against the 85. It's different in baseball, because there are limited scholarships, so schools are allowed (pretty much forced) to divide the sc...

re: NCAA about to change transfer rules

Posted by BillF on 4/17/24 at 4:14 pm
I agree that the NCAA is going to take the path of least resistance and allow unlimited transfers, with immediate eligibility. They know they're going to lose the lawsuit. Courts don't like to restrict movement, especially when it is tied to college students deciding where they wish to pursue an edu...

re: Damonic Williams DT enters Portal

Lester, what was your assessment of him after watching him play? Is he a take, or should LSU pass? We definitely need interior guys on defense....
I agree with your assessment of our running back rotation. It doesn't seem to have any rhyme or reason. Like most everything in college football now, I imagine it's oftentimes affected by NIL and the portal - pay up and give them more carries or they transfer. Find a couple who are producing and ...
I wasn't aware the Globetrotters had women on the roster. In fact, I didn't even know the team was still around. With tickets starting at $35, I doubt there will be a big crowd to see players not named Meadowlark Lemon or Curley Neal....

If Johnson was going to make a change at shortstop, it likely would have come against UNO. I can't see him putting in a new shortstop for an SEC road series they desperately need to win....
