He left under bad circumstances, and the fan base never reconciled with Lou. He's probably our second most hated ex-coach.
I'm not sure about that. His beef was primarily with Frank Broyles. At the time, people took Frank's side, but it was never ANYWHERE close to as polarizing as Nutt was.
Most Arkansas fans have a reasonable view of Lou. They love what he did as a motivator and a coach, but didn't like the fact that he hated to recruit and made a few quips that rubbed people the wrong way.
That is at least my interpretation.

I've always liked Lou. I just don't take him seriously. He doesn't either.
Craig James makes me want to vomit.

Is there an ex-Arkansas coach that y'all like that isn't named Broyles?

I thought you guys had a statue of him and shite.
Why b/c he went from here to Notre Dame and never gives us props on any of our games? Yeah let me suck him off real quick

He actually went from Fayetteville to Minnesota after Broyles fired him (which Broyles lied about at the time). Coached the gophers for 2 years before ND called.

I'm aware of this. My point being he claims ND as his school. He picks against us almost every time. Why would we like him?

I didn't particularly like Frank Broyles as a game day coach. He was a good leader and in many ways, a great mentor. He was a great recruiter and motivator, but his play calling was many times very much like Hootie's. In his later days of coaching, fans really began to turn up the heat for him to retire. Since he was already the AD at the time, there was no real change in that regard.
He was, in most ways, a great athletic director.

Yeah. He hung on for about 5 years to long IMO. He had already built all new stadiums etc. by early 2000's, he should've hung it up. The whole Nolan Richardson thing was bad on both sides and never should've happened.

True. Frank sometimes just didn't know when to let go.

A lot of people like Ken Hatfield (at least the ones I talk to). The biggest issue with ex-Arkansas coaches is that Broyles tended to run them off, which left people polarized in Broyles' camp or in other people's camp. The issue reached a head with Nolan Richardson, because that was really the point where it became VERY obvious that Broyles had to go. The Nolan Richardson saga was probably the most divided the fan-base was prior to the Nutt situation (though the Nutt situation ended up being mostly a revolt against the PTB and the administration).
Broyles was good at identifying coaching talent (for the most part), but his ego did get in the way of a lot of things. I think now people look back at our ex-coaches with a bit more fondness however.

Lou Holtz is a company man now. Just another sell out to the ESPN TV camera. $$$ sings are what's in Lou eyes. Not you or me.
Simply money. We will never know how he really feels.
He must be getting good TV ratings however. Because ESPN keep using him.
I would replace him with somebody else. But I am not running ESPN.

Walt Disney is still frozen. Just think about that for a moment.

It's been a while, and I could be wrong. Didn't Holtz leave N.D. before his contract was up and only a "couple" of games shy of being N.D. all time winning coach? Must have done something right?
