What's up with State, UT's OOC schedule?

I think most would agree that as long as you're playing one solid opponent out of conference, you're doing alright. This year Bama has Penn State, Auburn has Clemson, LSU has Oregon/WVU, Arky has aTm, Florida, South Carolina and UGA always have their in state rivals at the end of the year.
Tennessee plays: North Texas, Cincinnati, Buffalo and Middle Tennessee. I guess they scheduled Cincy a few years ago but still, that program should never be on the same field as the Vols. Down or not.
State, is worse. They play: Memphis, La Tech, UAB and UT Martin. That's shameful.

Atleast we know we shouldn't be any worse than 4-8

Tennessee had Cincy and UNC, but cancelled UNC before last year because Dooley wanted to ease up. This is the only year of the decade we have this.

We played tough OOC teams in the past such as Oregon, West Virginia, and Georgia Tech. Our AD felt it was better to have more home games and schedule CUSA and Sun Belt teams as opposed to BCS schools. This also assures that we get 4 OOC wins and only have to win 2 SEC games to be bowl eligible.

Arkansas doesnt always play the toughest OCC, but at least we have aTm for 10 straight years.
The above OCC is just embarassing. That is what gives the SEC a bad name around the country.

To be fair, they are taking on the best team in their state.

The games are huge for Ms. State, on the field and in recruiting battles.

Remember, you have to win 6 games to be bowl eligible.
If you're MSU or UT or Kentucky, Vandy and Ole Miss, why not schedule 4 OOC games you can win?

This is why attending a bowl game is now a meaningless accomplishment.

that's a croc. why should msu give a damn what the country thinks about their ooc schedule. do you see michigan, usc, texas, ohio state, etc. lining up to play a monster ooc schedule? hell no. while i admit that msu's is overly weak this year, it will come back to haunt them if they win the sec because they won't receive an nc bid if it's close. i think what gives the sec a bad name around the country is bad arse football teams. we're kicking butt and taking no prisoners so the rest of the country is firing shots at every little thing, real or imagined. we have a big ole target on our chest, but we also have one on our backs so the cowards can attack us also.

That is 100% accurate.

exactly.... state going 0-6 against decent OOC teams makes the conference look bad... I for one, am glad they're taking the easy way out.
it's about time actually.

Yeah & state has played the Oregons, West Virginia's (Pat White & Steve Slayton days) and Ga Tech over the last few years.

As we saw last year, UA-B, at home, can be quite the challenge.

No Al, DaleDenton is definitely flaming.
I do enjoy how he loves State so much, it's rather flattering.
You like that word, don't you DaleDenton?
