1mil would be a fair offer

Agreed, but how do you convince a good mid major coach to take it. Look at Brad Stevens at Butler he's been offered big bucks and stays at Butler. Shaka Smart signed an extension at VCU instead of taking a better paying job.

One coach I liked and wanted, Billy Kennedy is now at Texas A&M

You really believe we would pay a mid major coach we hired the same as Stansbury?

A coach from C-USA would be about as good as we could get.

Where do you think young, up and coming coaches come from exactly?

If you're expecting MSU to cherry pick someone from another major conference school it's probably not going to happen but the best thing MSU could do is get an up and coming guy.

You may not keep him like you have Stansbury (most schools don't) but MSU could definitely pull a decent coach given the talent hot bed you're sitting in. You could have your Anthony Grant type hire if you weren't so hung up on the same old shite.

We give coaches that same chance

Martin was like their 5th or 6th choice- Marshall was smart enough not to go to a school facing major sanctions- how can you not see that?

Brad Stevens is waiting for that Indiana position to open up. And frankly, Butler >>>> MSU right now (and a lot of non-traditional basketball schools), it would be a move down for him IMO.

There's always good, young coaches looking for places to move up. Always.

I see what you are saying.

However, tell me how WE at State could sell our job to Marshall other than a million bucks how could we get a quality coach like him to take our job.

THIS

It kills me to see us so forward thinking in football and baseball- but in basketball we are in the Stone Age

Our coach doesnt even practice zone offense before the 1st game- our AD had to make him install a weight program for our players...and this shite is acceptable to some people and they dont think we can do better-

yet they have the football and baseball examples staring them in the face- its so damn baffling

-Talent hot bed with 4* prospects each year
-No in-state competitor for said talent
-Brand new practice facility
-history of success with previous coach
-SEC program
-and 1million dollars

The basketball coach at MSU will always recruit well. We've been getting talented basketball players at MSU for 20 years now.

Not true. In the 80s and early 90s most of our top in state talent signed with out of state schools.
Chris Jackson LSU
Literral Green Georgia
Kenny Payne Louisville
Andy Kennedy NC State
Othlello Hartington Georgetown
James Hollywood Robinson Bama
Antonio McDyess Bama
Jerrod Ward Michigan

It wasn't until We made the Final 4 in 1996 we began to get some of the top players in Mississippi.
