re: State secondary
Posted by 57stratdawg on 9/14/11 at 7:52 pm
We're good in the secondary. It's the deepest position on our team. We have guys back there that can't get on the field and we can hit too.
We knocked 2 or 3 balls lose against Auburn, Whitley took that WR out on the sidelines (along with himself/hell of a catch by that dude), and had a pick6.
It's our best poisiton.

I'm still here. Just busy as shite/recovering from a soul crushing loss still.

It was a bad spot and a worse call.

Yeah I don't think we're missing anyone today other than Hughes.

They gave a shout out to these guys though..

Might be Fletcher Cox, but everything I've heard all week points to him playing.
Chris Hughes isn't playing, but I doubt they'd call him significant.

re: Ballard or Dyer?? Who ya got tomorrow?
Posted by 57stratdawg on 9/10/11 at 12:29 am
If Ballard played on the 2010 Auburn team he would have put up unbelievable numbers.
As far as tomorrow goes I'll go with..
Ballard - 131
Dyer - 83

Also, I know of coaches who have had as many as 5 or 6 cell phones at a time. One paid by the school. Wonder what the others are for..?

FYI - Taylor and Looper set up the deal to pay Newton at AU.
Glad to see that's no big secret judging by the cell phone records ESPN and Co asked for.

re: Can we bring LSU cowbells into the State game?
Posted by 57stratdawg on 9/8/11 at 11:04 am
Just make sure you don't use it during on the field play.
You'll be impressed with MSU fans. There aren't cowbells ringing when they're not suppose to be.

re: Recruiting Question for Bama fans

The real question is can he commit to Alabama if he wanted to.
Some say yes, some say no.

re: Barners, confidence level against State?

It should be at 0 because we're going to crush you!!!!! WAHHOOO!! GOO DAWWGSS!!!!
Kidding..
Auburn and MSU has played some close games over the last few years. I think 3 out of 4 have been decided by 3 points or less.
Auburn needs this game to be high scoring.

In all honesty, I think his eye is on the Penn St. job.
Maybe. The problem with that is going to be the staff turnover.
Mullen is going to want to bring in his own coaches, so what happens with Petrino's guys? Petrino is going to want them to hire off the current staff for that very reason. So, do you tell him he doesn't get a say in who follows him?

But there are only 12-14 jobs out there that could possibly hire him awa
We disagree on this. I think the number is more like 8-10.
Consider the schools that have made a run at him over the last few years, seems like it would take a Texas or Ohio State to get him to leave. I also don't consider SEC schools for the reasons previously mentioned.
re: Why can't State fans handle a little bit of success?
Posted by 57stratdawg on 9/6/11 at 6:00 pm
Who can't handle it? We are damn good this year, so that upsets you.
re: Mullins to Georgia next year ?
Posted by 57stratdawg on 9/6/11 at 5:21 pm
It's not good for the SEC for schools to "cannibalize potential and success".
In 20 years it's only happened once or so, and never under Slive. There's a reason for that.

What was incorrect about that? Houston Nutt was unemployed when OM hired him.
Tubbs is the last football coach to be hired away from one SEC school to another. That wasn't under Slive's watch. I can't even think of who would be before Tubbs.
So, once in 20 years or so? It's not good for busienss. And yes, he will have a choice too.
re: Mullins to Georgia next year ?

Mullen won't go to Georgia, or any other SEC team for that matter. Slive won't let that happen.
He's let it be known he doesn't want SEC teams stealing each other's coaches. That isn't good for the SEC as a whole, which is where his focus is.
Besides, we act like SEC coaches jump from school to school years, but in fact it rarely ever happens. That's why.
The last coach to leave one SEC for another was Tubbs. That was like 14(?) years ago?
