Right now he sits 5th/6th on our AD board (behind the 4 that have been mentioned the entire time). I don't know much about him. Strengths, weaknesses?

As an Ole Miss fan who hated how he went with Mullen's idea to constantly obsess over Ole Miss........I'd take Byrne as our AD in a heartbeat.

The fire that Mullen brought to the fan base added with the vision and inspiration that Byrne brought lead to MSU mobilizing like no one could ever imagine.

I'm like pank. I would take him as our AD in a heartbeat. The guy has lit a fire under the entire program from players to fans. He's going to be an AD for a major program at some point in the future.

This is believed to be our list at the moment:
1. Joe Castiglione, Oklahoma
2. Eric Hyman, South Carolina
3. Dan Radakovich, Georgia Tech
4. David Blackburn, Tennessee Assistant AD

5. Greg Byrne, Arizona
6. Steve Orsini, SMU

Strengths: young, energetic, hard working, great decision maker, very involved.

Weaknesses: NONE. He was loved at State and is still missed.

He was great for State. He was actually a visionary and could think outside of the typical MSU box. even though I think our current AD is staying in the mold of Byrne, Byrne was great for MSU. The only negative I can think about Byrne is scheduling an away game at South Alabama. But considering the spark he brought to the mindset of State fans, I'll let that go for now.

out of your list, the only ones I'd even consider over Byrne would be Castiglione and possibly Blackburn b/c he's already familiar with your school.

He is very good. Do note though that he is from the Arizona area.

I don't think he would leave arizona for tennessee. The next time he leaves will be for a top school. Tennessee is that type of school historically but it's not exactly a top AD job right now.

I do know Byrne has a philosophy that he got from his dad. He told one of my friends that you should only stay AD at a school between 6-10 years. He talked about how ideas have to stay fresh or something. So I see him moving around 3 or 4 more times before he retires.

Dude would return an email in a millisecond, and not some pregenerated one either, it always spoke directly to what you sent him

he should be #1- I really hope you guys dont hire him

He is the reason you are seeing a different Miss State today. He jump-started our program like never before. Young, fresh ideas to market the programs as well as catering to the fanbase.

His dad is our Athletic Director and I have no real problems with him. He has built our athletic program from being mostly doldrums to #3 in Cap One men's and #2 in womens.

Son sounds like his dad in the way he has/is building programs.

I think everyone knows he did a great job at state, but what people may not know is how cool of a person he is personally. He always remembers names, is candid, just a cool guy. I'm not even a State fan but I would cheer for them because of him. Kind of hope he stays out west

Yea Greg was a great guy. Whenever the tornado hit the Georgia Dome during the 08 SEC Tournament he was able to get us tickets to see State play Georgia at GT.

He left state because he wanted to be closer to his family out west. That was his reason for leaving. He is a great AD but I don't think he wants to come back east. He will be at a big program on day

Hell, I love this one. I see this being similar to a Tulane game, but it will be in my backyard.

For the UT group. I hear he is a Scientologist...stay away.
