Where do you see Nutt if he is indeed gone after this year?

Probably odds are better than not he stays, but it is possible.

He still had enough clout last year to use the Colorado job opening as leverage for his contract.

Does he go to say on OC job at a higher profile job in another conference.

He does seem to have the personality of one of those color guys on TV. Gerry Dinardo found a home here.

Does he get a HC job at a place like say Boise, Nevada, Wyoming, Washington St?

He will be in Oxford, Mississippi. They can't afford to buy him and his assistants out plus hire a new crew. They will have to let the value of his contract wear down some, if they can stop giving him pay raises.

Doubtful.

I know he's been there before, but

I'm interested to hear an Ole Miss fan's take on what he must do to save his job. FWIW, I think Ole Miss finishes 6-6 and makes a bowl game.

If Peterson at Boise did ever bolt for a higher profile gig I think at minimum you would see Nutt's name on Boise's list.

If Nutt gets fired I could see him taking a lower gig in the Big 12. I doubt he would coach at a non-BCS school, and I have utmost confidence in his ability to sell himself. I think its either BCS gig, or retirement to W. Little Rock.

Maybe, but it would be a product of Jimmy Sexton. Not because Boise had serious interest in hiring Nutt.

You think the administration at Boise St. would bring that boring arse offense of Nutt's after Chris Peterson's, that fans would encircle the Admin building and draw and quarter the staff there if that happened. Drugs are bad mmmmmkay

I wouldn't mind having him as our RBs coach. He doesn't have the Xs and Os acumen necessary to be an OC, but I doubt he would take anything less than a HC job anyway. If OM fires him, chances are he would retire or maybe take a year or two off until some school gets desperate and remembers that time when his team beat Florida in 2008 while ignoring his multitude of failings.

I could seriously see him finding a home in TV as a color analyst.

Tommy Tuberville did this on his one year off at a little known place.

Gerry Dinardo, fully realizing the sidelines are not his calling, has done this since being out of football.

Then it's safe to say that we should laugh at Saban for recommending him to us for head coach

No, Nutt should be LSU's head coach. That's not funny at all.

Saban stated after his tenure at LSU that Nutt was the most difficult SEC Game Day Coach to prepare a game plan against.

Nutt will be at Ole Miss in 2012 and years after.

I agree with this statement. I don't care how bad he does this year...they won't fire him. Now, if he was to happen to have a terrible season this year and then another terrible season in 2012, then yeah there is a huge possibility then. Ole Miss can't afford to keep firing coaches...no matter how much the fans or boosters want it to happen.

I agree that I don't think he will go after this year. That being said, I think when he leaves he is done with the SEC.

If Nutt goes 4-7 or 5-6 and is skull-fricked again by State the bubble may damn near be close to bursting--I don't think a promise to clean house with assts etc even if this happened would be enough.

I don't think Nutt is a bad coach.. He was 75-48 at Arkansas and 9-4 in first two years at Ole Miss. It's not like either are elite programs, so I'd say he has done a respectable job most years as HC. He'll usually get the better of the in-state recruits than MSU anyway so Ole Miss will be better in a couple of years if they hang on to him.

Still wouldn't be fired this year. Ole Miss DOESN'T have the money like LSU or Alabama or Florida to get rid of him right now and then hire somebody even worth a damn. It would be another Ed Orgeron hire. No thank you.
