Don't get me wrong. Seems to have potential. Petrino is a proven QB developer, and has a great system.

The only thing he has done so far is torch AU for one half last year.

I guess I'm in the "show me" category.

What has this guy done to gain so much love/respect across the SEC? He is totally unproven.

This is not your typical lsu/arky flame fest. I'm really trying to figure out if I missed something, or if he is being crowned the king of the west qb's just for one half of torching Nico thorpe.

its really no different than any other QB for any other school really.

i think he has a lot of upside just like the QB for GA.

Petrino always seems to reload at QB
Look at Louisville, Stefan Lefors lit the place up and Louisville had good QB while he was there.

I think it's just people thinking logically.

He was a fairly highly touted QB coming out of high school (4 star). He's been waiting in the wings for a long time, so he's had 3 years to sit and learn from Petrino/McGee. He's always looked good in scrimmages/spring games. He looked good in his one stretch of significance in 2010. Petrino always has good QB play (Casey Dick for crying out loud). And I know most people won't buy this, but it really was neck & neck between Wilson and Mallett 2 falls ago.

So I guess the next question is should playing well in a shootout vs AU's secondary REALLY be a valid measuring stick?

I think alot of it is what he has done in practice over the last few years. Mallett had too big of an arm and took charge of the offense (checks, hot routes etc) too well to not start, but most Arkansas fans believe Tyler is better in every other area. Under petrino he will hopefully take control of the offense like mallett did after a few starts. I for one don't think the Auburn game is a sign of things to come necessarily, but it proved the potential is there. There is no way to know how he will do until Bama week. Also, he will have 7 receivers in the rotation that legitimately could start for almost any team in the nation, which doesn't hurt. I think you're question is valid though.

And yes all reports out of practice were that he and Mallett were neck and neck 2 years ago.

It's no different from LSU's love fest with Spencer Ware.

I think Tyler Wilson is good, but you realize that these reports come out at every school every year when there is no returning starter, right?

I agreee completely. showed a ton of potential in limited action last year, but still has to do it for a full yearbefore they can be called great players at their respective positions

All the above reasons are vaild, but i think the fact that he's actually somewhat mobile is the point that no one has made. Obviously this is huge in the SEC b/c of team speed on D.

Well, Wilson dominated for one half, Ware dominated aTm for 4 QTRS, so it is different.

He can make all the throws and is accurate. He's a starting QB in the Petrino system. He should be successful in college, then bust out as a pro.

not too much different. Wilson's numbers in that half were more impressive than Ware's numbers in that whole game. either way, we need to see sustainability overmultiple games from each of them
