seems to me that the sporting broadcasts mainly espn consistently pick OU every year in the top 2 or 3 and every year for the same reason....all the talent coming back

I asked this, all that talent coming back barely beat uconn, lost to texas a and m, and played utah state way to close

every year same results oklahoma is a top 10 team but until they prove it...which they will have a chance to at florida state i dont think they are deserving of numero uno

understandable but the defense isnt the only thing you have to rely on....that number 3 is pretty damn good

oklahoma is oklahoma looks good on paper but thats about all

2003,2004,2006,2008 and so on same thing...oklahoma is going to win it all then they get embarassed

Thanks, but it was really like shooting fish in a barrel. I mean, just read your post for starters. Then, add in the fact that you cheer for a team that never has and never will win anything, yet you try to chime in a conversation about who should be ranked #1 IN THE NATION.......... and, well, really it's just plain to see.

QB is too big of a position to be talking like that.

i like our chances too.... but that's because i'm an alabama fan, and the Saban era has been a constant orgasmic state...

to be objective, i like EVERYTHING i see in our complete package compared to any team we will play... but the QB spot is just too much to be talking for sure NC. very, very little experience behind center.

So because I pull for an losing team I am an idiot? I know its tough for Bama fans to understand, but we actually went to school for the school we pull for. Our parents went to school there. My granddad played for Vaught. Why wouldnt I be an OM fan? Im from MS and I dont farm so State is out. Take some criticism and understand that not everyone thinks Bama is God's gift to humanity.

Edit: And please point out where in my post I come off as stupid. Dont just say, "well what you said was dumb", without explaining it.

Yall just dont seem to get it. EVERYONE likes your chances. Just because youre #2 in some polls doesnt mean they think you dont have a great shot at winning the NC. But with OU returning their QB and facing a much much much easier schedule, it would be asinine to not think they have a great shot as well.

I honestly hope we aren't preseason number 1. Why would you ever want to be preseason number 1?

i agree...that preseason #1 ranking very rarely turns out well...

Landry Jones is wildly overrated. The main reason why Oklahoma's #1 is because they're returning a ton of starters from a team that finished sixth in the country last year and their conference is weak. Nothing more, nothing less.

Agreed

Except with wildly overrated comment. I mean I think he's good and I havent heard any crazy comparisons making him sound overrated. I think he's the best QB in their league and a top 5 QB in the nation.

If we're going to get all serious, I don't know why you're an idiot. Pulling for a losing team doesn't MAKE you one.

But, acting like Bama should definitely NOT be ranked #1 because we'll have a new QB is pretty dumb. How talented do you have to be (McElroy) to hand the ball off to Richardson behind a veteran offensive line and throw an occasional play action pass to keep the defense honest?

And how many teams are going to score 17 points on Bama?

EVERY team has questions and none of them are clearly more talented than Bama and have less questions.

When was the last time an awesome defense won a national title with average QB play? Oh....wait a sec....too many to count.

I'm pretty sarcastic myself, so I see what you are saying..but McElroy had more playing experience, he was a RS JUNIOR(yes, i think that extra year was vital in his development)

The last RS sophomore QB to lead his team to a national championship was Matt Leinart in 2003 which was a whopping 8 years ago. And there have been a number of QBs who have come close to winning it all as a RS sophomore. Darron Thomas last year, Ken Dorsey in 2000, Bradford in '08, etc....

Bama is going to face 3-5 teams this year that have enough talent to beat them. OU plays one. Returning their QB, OU is the safer pick.

Mos likely odds to appear in the title game? Sure, that is OU all the way. I have always felt that the ranking should reflect the best team though and not just the one most likely to be at #1 at season's end.
