A coach that did well for you, but was never truly embraced.

I would not dare post this on a Gator site, but Meyer IMO was never truly loved and embraced by all of the UF faithfull.

Yes I will be forever greatfull for what he did for us as it may never be done again in such a short tenure, but Urban I don't think will ever be as beloved as the ole ball coach even though he won twice as many championships in about half the time.

I do have a feeling that Muschamp has the potential. Maybe its a southern thang?

Franchione at Bama.

One could argue Bowden at Auburn.

Miles at LSU.

Tubberville and Cutcliffe at OM?

Ken Hatfield. Boring offense (flexbone). Lost some of the 'big' games and all but one bowl game.
However, worst year was his first at 7-4-1
But, left after back to back 10 wins seasons...

two seasons and an in-the-dark-of-night exit does not give a fanbase a long time to "truly embrace" a coach...

He still fits the criteria. I guess I could go with Bill Curry then.

A better choice for bama would be Bill Curry. They never really liked him.

meyer's loyalty to addazio kind of put a damper on the coach-fan relationship

That would have been my first guess when it comes to former Bama coaches. The guy had a brick tossed through his window.

Bama fans will swear to you that he did it himself.

disagree with that statement.
As a booster, I think Meyer was as much respected as a coach as Spurrier.
No one can take away what Meyer did in the few years he was at Florida.
I think with the Addazio thing is he knew what was going on and agreed to help and that meant alot to corch.

Chizik is embraced for simply putting together this staff.

How do you not love and embrace a coach at your school that has 2 NC in 5 years in the most popular sport.

As a booster, I respect Corch tremendously, but in my heart of hearts, I heart the Ole Ball Coach. Mostly because he is a true Gator - played, won a heisman, and brought us a National Championship. He had flaws, but he was easy to forgive and forget.

Not sure about Coach Boom. He spent his early childhood years as a Gator, but played for the school up north. If he brings us trophies, then I will respect him.

I agree that Meyer was never embraced to the degree of Spurrier. Spurrier is revered for laying the foundation for all the success that followed. Moreover, his personality was large while Meyer has always come across as a stiff.
