Hogs Put SEC on Notice with Anderson Hire

Some interesting tidbits in there. I had no idea that A) SEC West basketball was so consistently bad. Not just the last five years or so, but historically speaking and B) Mike Anderson is more accomplished than Nolan Richardson through his first 9 years as a head coach at the D-1 level.

Arkansas used to be a basketball school. When Arkansas gets back to playing successful basketball, the SEC will look like a very respectable conference if Florida and Kentucky maintain.

Someone didn't like the line about Auburn being "conspicuously absent" in basketball since the game was invented or whatever the line was.

Unrelated post as mine usually are but I enjoyed the Mike Anderson quote something to the effect of "If you see me and a bear get in a fight, you better help the damn bear." I'm excited about Arkansas BB for the first time in a long time as it seems we've hired the basketball equivalent of Davey Crockett.

My favorite line was in reference to his full court press, "we're gonna pick 'em up when they get off the damn bus."

This is why i'm actually excited about basketball season next year. Gonna rule the west for the foreseeable future unless someone else steps their game way up.

My buddy who lives in Rogers told me that all local TV stations broadcast the press conference this past Sat. that lasted for an hour and a half. Is this really true???

Because of it being Anderson? Would they have had as big of a deal for Buzz Williams or somebody else? Did Pel and Heath have big press conferences.

It was basically a welcome back home celebration. Sure he says all the coach things but really that was about doing the right thing and giving him the job. Buzz doesn't get an hour and a half during march madness for damn sure. I don't remember their press conferences being this big a deal.

Would not have happened for anyone else... it was a big deal and awesome celebration. I was there and was in awe, really.

Are you guys going to be pissed and hard on Anderson if his first year is a tough transition and he fails to make the NCAA tournament?

nope i'm expecting NIT though, the recruiting class is legit and has played in a very similar system during AAU.

This was more of a pep rally and a "welcome home" party for Anderson.
