Is Urban Meyer going to rat out other SEC programs?

"What I've seen the last five years is a complete turn in the integrity of the college coaching profession," Meyer said. "It's completely turned the other way. Right now, it's not good because the risk-reward is 'have at it, do what you've got to do get the great player, go win games and at the end of the day we'll find out what happens down the road."
quote:
"I actually put one together last year, a recommendation (NCAA rules enforcement suggestions) and sent it to a good chunk of athletic directors and presidents and commissioners," Meyer said. "You can have group committees, group hugs, group discussions, you can have whatever you want, at the end of the day if you enforce the law people will have an opportunity to break that rule less."
quote:
It is quite refreshing to hear the candor from Meyer. He said he is free to speak out about the issues because he is out of the profession, but there are other coaches that agree with him who are unable to come out publically.
quote:
You can't help but think Meyer is alluding to Auburn and Cam Newton and possibly the rule breaking by Lane Kiffin. But the issue is deeper than just those instances.

That's funny coming from Meyer.

Meyer was one of the worst negative recruiters in the business. I thought this pussy wanted to spend time with his family? GTFO with this shite.

He won't rat out anyone, but he knows what the frick is going on, just like anyone else that's not naive. The SEC is full of crooks, and it starts at the top with Slive. Slive needs to step up and put this shite to bed, and it wouldn't be an issue. Mix that with the NCAA who's an ultimate joke, and you get rampant cheating in recruiting that goes unpunished.

I don't believe he will. There is no need now. It is clear that he believes that there is way too much cheating going on in recruiting and we are hearing it more and more in FL every year.
The money is too big for the NCAA to really crack down.
We should have paid players that didn't get arrested instead of staying clean and getting trouble children.

bet he is too Pussy to man up and admit he sucked balls in regards to keeping players from being arrested - but its so much easier to fling shite on other programs.
Meyes is a Doucher of the highest order.

If Meyer had shite on Auburn, it would have already been turned over to the NCAA. You can bank on that.

JMO - Meyer was a bad negative recruiter and a douche... but he's probably right to suggest ways to clean some things up
And my guess is he is referring to at least some behavior he saw from Kiffin and Auburn most recently

Thanks for giving Urban so many wins.

I think this runs much deeper than "negative" recruiting. Negative recruiting is done by all coaches in CFB, in one way or another. Negative recruiting isn't cheating. If you read the context of the quotes, you can easily tell this is about more than negative recruiting.

Negative recruiting is not cheating. It often backfires but it's not cheating. Cheating is the issue.
I'll add that sometimes negative recruiting is just telling the truth but the other side sees it differently.
I don't pay attention to recruiting rumors regarding cheating but we heard many instances of this going on in the state this year. Many more than usual. I don't know if folks are just not hiding it as well as they used to or if there is just more of it.

From the same coach who took Chris Rainey, and continually gave his players slaps on the wrist for every off field infraction

Yeah wasn't Florida's arrest record under Meyer ridiculously bad or am I imagining that?

Two different topics. The thread is about recruiting and cheating. Not punishing current players. My feelings about the Urban punishment methods are known. IDGAF any more 'cause he gon.

Ross, this isn't about arrests. He's pissed about the recruiting cheating that he learned about during his time at UF.
You can ding him for troubled players but not cheating.

"What I've seen the last five years is a complete turn in the integrity of the college coaching profession,"
Cheating or not he had no integrity. Just because something isnt breaking NCAA rules(maybe) doesnt mean it is right.
