This is basically just another way for Meyer to keep the spotlight on ghim rather than someone else. Just like the timing of all of the other instances. He made sure to mention that HE submitted a report of ways to curb it all and HE is holier than thou and wants to clean everything up. He just wants to be in the spotlight no matter what its for.

Yep, the guy is a joke and this holier than now shite considering the problems on his own team during his tenure like guys like Rainey and it's hilarious that he's "taking a stand."

frick Urban Meyer. Now we have to see him on television all the time acting like God's gift. Awesome.

And he got Percy Harvin's girlfriend a gymnastic scholarship before he moved down to G.ville. Fail. At least know what you're talking about before making an accusation.

OK, minor detail, Moore not Harvin. I'm so sorry, but I had other things to do first. This from "Bleacher Report, July '08..."Florida

Look for QB Tim Tebow to repeat as the Heisman winner and win his second BCS National Championship. Tebow is not only a threat through the air, but will beat you on the ground as well....
It also helps to have USC transfer RB Emmanuel Moody in the backfield to take some pressure off Tebow and let him pound out his 1,000-yard season.

The Gators have very talented receivers, led by 2007 first team All-SEC selection Percy Harvin and JUCO transfer Carl Moore from Sierra College in Rocklin, CA, who was rated the top JUCO WR prospect in the nation. Meyer got Moore to go to Florida by also offering his girlfriend a gymnastics scholarship".

"This Gator in hot water?
Everyone who follows college football knows the impact former Utah coach Urban Meyer has made at Florida, turning the Gators into a national caliber, and national championship team, after several years of unsatisfactory results. Now he apparently is making an impact on its gymnastics program too, and apparently some NCAA violations if the story is correct.

In short, Meyer was recruiting junior college receiver Carl Moore, who attended Sierra Community College in Placerville, Calif., along with his girlfriend, Maranda Smith. Smith had competed for UCLA's gymnastics team in 2006, but quit after an injury.

Once Meyer realized he wasn't going to sign Moore without Smith attending Florida as well, he contacted Florida gymnastics coach Rhonda Faehn for help. She just happened to have a scholarship available. The couple are now Gators, with Smith scoring a 9.775 on the uneven bars in exhibition Friday.
Sounds shady, doesn't it? It might just be.
In the story, Smith relates how she talked to Meyer "every day" in November and how he wanted her to attend Florida and compete in gymnastics.

First of all, as a football coach, Meyer cannot recruit for another sport. By contacting Smith, he broke the rule that all phone calls must be made by a head coach or one or more assistant coaches who count toward the limits of coaches who can recruit in a sport, which is three in gymnastics. Also, since he was effectively acting as a gymnastics coach, he broke the rule that in gymnastics coaches are allowed to contact recruits only once a week.

It'll be interesting to see if this article brings any sort of punishment for Meyer and the Florida program. He has been known to stretch rules and recruiting ethics before, with numerous reports of how he still heavily recruited athletes after they'd given other schools oral commitments. I wonder how this is going to play out with the NCAA?"

If Meyer had shite on Auburn, it would have already been turned over to the NCAA. You can bank on that.

FWIW I approve this statement.

Why is everyone else in the SEC so nervous about what Urban has to say? Deep down everyone knows everything he has said is correct. You just hate it is coming from him.

WTF does player arrests have to do with coaching integrity?

Ah, the Carl Moore/Miranda situation was investigated by the NCAA, and no rules were broken. Nothing came out of it. Bleacher report has soooo much credibility...

I dont think they are nervous about anything. I think its more of, he has whined about so much and he is being hypocritical. Is his excuse going to be, everyone made him do it because everyone else did it? He is just acting childish. He should thank the SEC for what it gave him and move on with his career.

He has every right to talk about what he is talking about, and actually has the credibility to do it, because he has been there. He has not said he did it because everyone else does it, he is just confused about how the NCAA applies the rules, and I think everyone around here knows is al ALL ABOUT MONEY. USC continues to sign 30 players this year, when they had scholarship reductions and penalties? The NCAA is a joke, and his point is coaches break the rules because they KNOW the NCAA won't do anything about it, because money talks and bullshite walks.

That is why Cam Newton was allowed to play 5 days after Auburn declared inelegible. It was a joke, you know it, I know it, everyone knows it. There are a lot of programs who have broken the rules, and continue to do it with impunity. Why is Lame Kiffin still allowed to coach? Bruce Pearl? Amazing, simply amazing.

Sure he has every right, but should he? He bent rules just like others. He may have not bent them as much, but whether it is a little or a lot, it's all the same. USC signing of players is legit because the scholly reduction isn’t until the next cycle, I believe.

They NCAA can only enforce stuff they have hard evidence on. Somewhat like the Law. And some of these violations are kind of ridiculous. Yes they are there to have a level playing field but 30-40 years back there was nothing like some of the new rules regarding contact and such.

I could get into a pissing contest on the Cam Newton stuff but let’s not, please
Kiffin, his rules violations, when you look at it, as well as Bruce pearls are not really that bad. The problem was they committed them knowing they were breaking them and lied about it. Truly they did laugh at the NCAA.

In all, Meyer is not an NCAA coach anymore, he needs to move on.
