Just because two fanbases (one really) are dumb enough to pay 15k for tickets to this game, doesn't mean everyone in america is watching. Lower ratings than last year BY FAR.

I just don't see it. Texas-USC was one of the biggest buildups to a game I've ever seen.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to pull for Oregon on this one.

Who you root for has no impact on the outcome of the game. Therefore, root for who you hate less.

Um, I think I'm going to disagree with you on that. We'll see.

Ok then, tell me the macro on why I, as a Georgia fan first and foremost, should want Auburn to win the biggest game possible.

If the SEC perceived strength gets diminished any more.

#3 UGA 1 loss
#2 Oregon 1 loss
#1 TCU undefeated

NC: Oregon/TCU

We want to have an automatic bid into the NC. If we are perceived as the same strength as the rest of the conferences, we will not get that nod.

Oregon is 3000 miles from here. Auburn is here. Ill listen to pac 10 yapping on the radio or on the internet all year in order to avoid having to LIVE around barners that you know won't shut up until the iron bowl next year. Hell no, auburn doesn't need ANY help.
Perhaps then you'll get a taste of what we Boogs have had to put up with for OUR ENTIRE frickING LIVES.

That said, I was kind of pulling for Bama last year. Not that I wanted you to win particularly, but I knew that it was going to happen with Saban eventually and I figured I'd get it over with.

I can't think of a single MNC game in the past 30 years where I actively pulled against an SEC team, except maybe UTee in '98 because I wanted VPI to win (my grandfather's alma mater). I wouldn't do it again, though, knowing what a thug factory Beamer has going there.

Tennessee played Florida State in the Fiesta Bowl that season. Virginia Tech was in the Sugar Bowl against Florida State the next season.

I didn't make you decide orange and blue makes a swell color combination. Auburn fans should know the score when they decide to put their faith (and money) down on the plains.

I pull for the SEC in bowl games. During the Cotton Bowl we were at a local tavern watching the game. Several people sitting around were wearing their UGA hats or Auburn shirts or hats. One Auburn guy at the bar started jumping up and down and laughing at LSU when A&M scored first. The UGA and other Auburn fans blasted him repeatedly, then when LSU scored he paid his tab and left. All the SEC fans were chanting "Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey hey, goodbye"

Lol. You are using a very specific hypothetical scenario that may or may not happen. If Auburn wins what WILL happen is 1)They will have a much better pitch in recruiting, 2)Their fans will be unbearable 3)It will make their program overall as a whole look better. My 3 things are definite, you just made something up.

And your argument is incredibly flawed anyway. The polls don't take into account the past. LSU won the NC in 2003, why didn't that catapult AU into the top 2 in 2004? Would things have been different had UT won the NC in 2001? No. Seasons are looked at for what they are, what happened in the past doesn't mean shite. In your scenario, people wouldn't say "Georgia looks pretty good, but WAIT...Auburn lost to Oregon last year. Yep, let's bump Georgia down a spot." To think that's what would happen is flat out ludicrous.

I know you can grasp this. I wasn't saying you would drop because of lack of perceived strength. I was saying you would not jump a team who is ranked higher than you. Trust me, you don't want a level playing field with the other conferences. We want the NC to be the SEC invitational.

I see what you're saying, but it doesn't make sense. People will judge 2011 (or whatever year we're talking about) on 2011 alone. People will look at who UGA beat and the 1 team we lost to. They'll do the same thing for Oregon and their 1 loss. The 7 computers will do the same thing and the BCS will spit out a ranking. What happens in the game tonight will have absolutely ZERO to do with that process.

IIRC, last year it was basically Alabama fans and Arkansas fans rooting for the Tide in the NCG.

I as well was a huge Texas fan last year. It has very little to do with Auburn in particular in my eyes.

Um, no. This game is the most expensive in US sports history. The ratings will probably be through the roof.

Dummies selling their souls because they can't get enough tickets to a Texas sized high school stadium for their NC doesn't mean the ratings will be through the roof. I'm sure they'll be good, but c'mon.. it's Auburn... and Oregon.

I already said that!

Good point about lsu 03 and auburn 04. Sure didn't help them any. The rest of the country knows that auburn isn't going to be our rep in the bcs every year. Like they'd push out bama or florida because auburn lost.
