Have you really ever heard someone get a roll tide at a funeral?

I've yet to go to a funeral, so no. But I bet it happens.

No. That commercial exaggerates a bit.

The news anchor scene was 100% real though.

I haven't heard anyone at a funeral yet, but the secretary at my High School made it known that when she died she didn't want a sad funeral.. she wanted a party, complete with the Alabama fight song. Basically, a "Roll Tide" pep rally in her honor. Knowing her family, I'd bet her wishes are carried out when it's her time.

Also, my dad is a pastor and I know if he outlives one of his parishioners in particular, Dad will preach his funeral... and there will be a Roll Tide just before they plant him.

I got pulled over coming back from an Alabama-Auburn game we lost. Cop saw I was a Bama fan and let me off. Just told me to slow down and walked away with a 'Roll Tide.'

I haven't had one say that to me after a ticket, but I have only been pulled over 3 times in Alabama. I did have a couple of Tuscaloosa PD cops do a rooooooooooooooll tide roll! with everyone in my old house when they broke up one of our parties after a football game though.

Actually, I have. But as weird as it sounds,it was done in good taste and everyone regardless of fandom did it.

Guy in my SS class last spring literally dropped dead of a heart attack at 42. No warning,no issues, seemed to be in great shape, health, etc.

Guy was a huge Tide fan and his best friend who went with him to Pasadena wore one of those Nike UA coach's shirts for the eulogy and walking up to the alter he got everyone to say, chant whatever, "R-O-L-L T-I-D-E".

Honestly, it was pretty touching and moving.

What about the Roll Tide that is given after the father of the girl leaves the court room after taking up for the football player instead of his daughter.

Yes. A vendor who called on me at work passed away last year, and he got several RTRs during his ceremony. The guy was Bama through and through, and one of the nicest fellas you'd ever want to meet.

Same way this one was done...everyone smiled and shed a tear for the biggest Tide fan they knew...

I don't know people who say Roll Tide at funerals. I do know that last season, thoughts went to those who were huge fans who weren't still here with us to see it all, and that there might have been a tear shed thinking about how much we wish they were still with us to see it. I really really missed my dad last year when I was in Pasadena.

But everyone does that. People even write about it.
