word around austin is that malzhan is texas #1 choice and that the donors are willing to pay 7 figures for a guy like him, the thinking is that even if he leaves us after one year, it will be worth it because of his instant impact.

He can't bring Cam with him so how will he help Texas. GM was a fluke this year that got lucky because they bought a freak.

I don't think we will hear anything about it until after the NC game but it is an obvious possibility. I also expect Auburn to offer Malzahn a million per as well.

He isn't leaving for another OC job, and Jay Jacobs will win a bidding war for him in terms of salary.

After that first season, you'd fire Mack and make Gus the HC.

Every year Gus has coached he's produced good offensive numbers.

Why would Texas pay him 7 figures for one year? IMO, it takes at least 1 full season to implement a new offense, and Texas doesn't have Cam Newton.

You frickers keep your dirty paws off our OC. If he leaves for a HC position, I'd be more than okay with that. I'd be pissed if we lost another stud coordinator to the Longhorns.

How quickly you forget our clusterfrick in 2008 and how we went from horrendous to awesome in one year.

out-bidding Jay Jacobs in a bidding war is no small task.

Yep. Gus's offensive is even good when the talent isn't there. (Last year's Auburn team)

He wouldn't have too, he could drive the price so high up Texas says "frick it, we aren't paying that for one year"

If it came down to it, I can't see AU outbidding UT.

I realize Texas has a huge amount of resources, but Jacobs has said we will play name the price for Malzahn, so good luck.
