Bell, when contacted Thursday night by ESPN.com, confirmed Cecil Newton did ask for money in exchange for Cam Newton signing with Mississippi State. Bell said he was contacted by the NCAA about the matter and spoke to an investigator earlier this week.

Bell, a Florida resident, was an offensive lineman at Mississippi State in the early 1980s and played with Rogers.

Nothing but rumors and unnamed sources. I'm going to need something specific. Perhaps a signed affidavit, maybe even a blood test.

This is absolutely great and very deserving to Au fans that have constantly spewed crap about Bama cheating and how they celebrated the A. Means probation/scandle. Hope they get hammered

Cam Newton bribe recording
Just called and got details. Bill in Destin, Florida is MissSt donor and has phone recording of Cam Newtons dad saying Auburn agreed to pay $200k but he would go to Miss for only $180. Very detailed conversation about method of payment and 3 installments of $60, first before signing and second on signing. Said he gave tape to NCAA last week after story started breaking. Already had death threats from Auburn fans.

Also...Bell claims to have recordings of Cecil giving detailed payment instructions and mentions Auburn's willingness to pay.
He allegedly handed he recordings over the the NCAA last week.

i agree with spacewrangler. obviously if you weren't the sort of auburn fan that enjoyed us being down and made fun of us, then it doesn't apply to you.

I only lasted 27 hours on my hiatus of this site, but in my defense this is a very fluid situation and I'd like to chime in on it once in a while
NIH you still suck.
If this turns out to be true, and I have no reason to suspect it isn't if Bell actually claims this, Auburn is straight up flat out screwed. And to be honest with you, I don't want to be associated with a dirty program that would pay 200,000 dollars to secure the signature of one guy.
I'll still play "wait and see" but this is turning from the MSU issue it was into an Auburn issue and that is where I begin to get scared.
