Note the dates.
Newton told the council the building can be brought to code "inside of six months." He also said the church has the money in hand to proceed with the work.
LINK
Newnan City Council has decided to allow the Holy Zion Center of Deliverance, 115 Temple Ave., to remain in existence at its present location if certain conditions are met.
LINK
Holy Zion Center for Deliverance is now in compliance with the City of Newnan's building requirements.
LINK
I am sure it is all legit....

It does if the "payment plan" story is true...

According to rumored reports from people who are "in the know" the money was paid in 3 $60K installments.

The hell?
You don't just "deliver the money" and it is up to code. Money around Xmas, THEN construction / remodeling work begins, it takes months to complete the work.
wow.....did you really ask "it takes six months to deliver" for a project to bring a structure up to code as if it was a wallpaper issue and you needed the dollar bills to paste on the wall?
wow
j/k

Did you post it already Mr. Jones? Sorry to bore you.

From the AJC:
"In Newnan, Cecil Newton's church, which news reports suggested were a possible beneficiary of the alleged payout, sat in disrepair. The Holy Zion Center of Deliverance, located in a heavily commercial area in Newnan, looks like a deserted building. A former car dealership, white curtains are drawn across the front windows, which appear to bear a couple of bullet holes. In fact, the church was dissolved in 2008 by the state after failing to file its annual registration. 'I've never seen anybody over there,' said Jeff Scott, manager of a nearby used-car dealership."

Funneling money through the church is the oldest play in the book.

I don't think Cecil ever thought that the actions of a man of God would ever be questioned....he's about to learn that one route into the FBI is to have an accounting degree!!!!!

Note to citizens of Georgia: When opening a church, business or nonprofit organization, do not put the word "deliverance" in your name.
