I wonder what Kirk has heard, or if it's just the same stuff the rest of us have heard.

I think this, but since he's in front of the camera, he wants to sensationalize it. I can't wait to hear Lou Holtz spit out some damning diatribe

it's reasonable supposition anyway

I don't know of any reason for him to hold a grudge against Auburn in particular either.

Coach Gene Chizik declined to address the situation directly during his weekly radio show on Thursday night, but made a forceful statement nonetheless.

“Cameron Newton is eligible at Auburn University. Period. End of story,” he said.

At least for now.

I'm not mad, I already said I think this is awesome. You guys are so excited and have already stripped of our wins, taken Cam's Heisman, and given us the death penalty over a statement from a former MSU QB that has nothing to do with Auburn.

It has everything to do with Auburn, because if ANYONE representing Cam Newton - his dad, church lay elder, bishop, etc... accepted any kind of money in exchange for anything involving Cam Newton - then Newton is inelligible, and Auburn will at the very least have to vacate the wins that they got while Cam was playing. That's the BEST case scenario for Auburn if ANYONE got paid. Worst case would be some pretty sick sanctions if they find out anyone at Auburn knew about it.

Wait...when did they give Cam the Heisman? Did I miss the ceremony? Or do they give a version to JuCo players?

I have stated several times that I don't think anything will come of this, but it is fun for now.

Im sure you said that about him when he picked auburn to be 12-0.

well that works two ways. Aub's have been quick to defend herbie and now we're turning on him just as quickly, everyone esle has been quick to dismiss herbie as a retard who knows nothing, and know he's the guy with all the info.

Nothing like a good controversy to flip party lines.

Not if Auburn did nothing wrong, and there is zero evidence or indication right now that they did.

It doesn't matter if AUBURN did nothing wrong. If Cecil, Cam, or anyone else got paid for Cam to sign with Auburn, pushed to Auburn, etc... then he'll be inelligible - which has everything to do with Auburn because this 10-0 start will mean nothing.

"Everything is unfounded," said [Cecil] Newton, who recently retained an attorney. "The timing is so bad. Somebody is behind this. We'll figure out who."

It's been sugested by some that Mullen informed Meyer who informed his NYT pal (same NYT reporter that was going after Kiffin for Meyer).

Perhaps Meyer doesn't want CAM to win the Hypesman and doesn't want to face CAM in the SEC CG.
